Chrysler Hedge Funds Getting Death Threats (Should Obama Be On DHS Terrorist Watch List?)
Business Insider ^ | Monday, May 4, 2009 | Joe Weisenthal

Posted on 05/04/2009 6:31:53 PM PDT by kristinn

Barack Obama's decision to paint the hedge funds in the Chrysler case as anti-American obstructionists is prompting death threats against them.

That's at least what their lead laywer Thomas Lauria is saying, reports The Detroit News. He said in court that the threats have been turned over to the FBI.

We assume Lauria is being honest -- you don't say this stuff in court and turn it over to the FBI if it's rubbish -- though we'll note that Lauria is being pretty provocative in his attempt to win the war of public opinion in the Chrysler case. He's of course been airing the complain that one redoubt, Parella Weinberg, only decided to go along with the Rattner plan upon receiving thuggish threats of intimidation.

Lauria used the death threats as a reason to keep the names of the hedge funds secret.

Sound familiar: It's almost exactly how the stories played out in the AIG case, as they tried to keep the bonus recipients a secret amidst intense public anger.

"A group of investment firms and hedge funds decided to hold out for the prospect of an unjustified taxpayer funded bailout. They were hoping that everybody else would make sacrifices and they would have to make none. Some demanded twice the return that other lenders were getting. I don't stand with them." Barack Hussein Obama, April 30, 2009.

" I want to comment on the news about executive bonuses at A.I.G. This is a corporation that finds itself in financial distress due to recklessness and greed.

" Under these circumstances, it’s hard to understand how derivative traders at A.I.G. warranted any bonuses, much less $165 million in extra pay. How do they justify this outrage to the taxpayers who are keeping the company afloat?" Barack Hussein Obama, March 16, 2009

The media would have you believe that Obama is the constant victim of death threats from Americans, yet the reverse is actually true. Obama carries on like the Godfather, he doesn't have to say the exact words--just the right words.

BTW, has the attempted murder by arson at Sarah Palin's church been solved yet?

Anybody who threatens to cost UAW money should watch their backs, the union thugs play very rough.

Yeah, telling the truth is really provocative. Rush was right, the only way to fight back against these people is to get everything out in the open and be loud and public about it. Then they will back down, at least for awhile, or adopt another strategy. Lauria is doing the right thing if he wants to stay alive. Keep it loud and keep it public.

I remember reading about union thugs attacking Clinton protestors. Always be ready to rumble around the Democrats and at a minimum have a camera rolling to document so you can sue them and send them to jail.

organized labor turns out in big numbers all over the country at election time, working the polls, manning the phone banks for democrats, supplying transportation for nursing homes and slum dwellers, etc. They are an invaluable part of the democrat political machine.

Thomas Lauria gets death threats! If the FBI does not treat this threat with the same degree of seriousness as they would a threat against Bambi, I suggest that think the FIX IS IN!

SOMEBODY is going to retaliate against these Oba-mobs, and when they do, this will open the floodgates of resistance

Death Threats by BHO extremist supporters probably....the same group as AIG probably.
Who the Hell Threatens a Hedge fund that is a Victim of Chrysler ? I find this hard to believe as legit....political....but an Irate Individual(s) threatening a Hedge fund ? C’mon.....this isn’t Madof or AIG Executive stuff.
Obama minions trying to create a Constitutional work around is more believable.

These ‘hedge funds’ are holding 10% of the debt of Chrysler and the WH brownshirts don’t want to pay it.

From the link at Detroit News:

“The biggest obstacle Chrysler faces to a quick exit from bankruptcy is the objections of secured creditors, who hold roughly 10 percent — or $700 million of its $6.9 billion in first-lien debt.

The Treasury Department convinced the four major banks holding 70 percent of Chrysler’s secured debt to accept $2 billion in cash for the $6.9 billion.

The creditors filed their first objections today to some of Chrysler’s preliminary requests.”

This is just more of the Obama/Rahm extortion, blackmail, threats and bribery schemes.

Never in my life have I seen a more corrupt and thuggish bunch in our WH and a media that is just as corrupt and thuggish.

Pray for our country!

Thanks for posting. Good comments at the link. We are on a slippery slope. Be prepared.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Thus the beneficiaries are spared the shame, danger, and scruple which their acts would otherwise involve. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons, and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim — when he defends himself — as a criminal. In short, there is a legal plunder, and it is of this, no doubt, that Mr. de Montalembert speaks.

This legal plunder may be only an isolated stain among the legislative measures of the people. If so, it is best to wipe it out with a minimum of speeches and denunciations — and in spite of the uproar of the vested interests. - Frédéric Bastiat

Some compensation and ill-gotten gain is OK, though.

Jamie Gorelick (yes, THAT Jamie Gorelick of 9-11 Brick Wall fame) earned an estimated $26,000,000 serving as vice chair of Fannie Mae from 1998 to 2003.

The Clinton administration's White House Budget Director Franklin Raines ran Fannie and collected $50,000,000.

Big Democrat Jim Johnson, recently on Obama's VP search committee, has hauled in millions from his Fannie Mae CEO job. Johnson earned $21,000,000 in just his last year at Fannie Mae.

FYI, the majority stockholder in Chrysler was Cerberus. Cerberus. If you check the Cerberus action you will find that one of its major principles was J. Ezra Merkin who has been indicted in the Madoff scandal.
The ultimate irony in all of this is that the hedge fund leaders and their lawyers were big Obama donors.

There’s an outfit called the Working Families Party which is funded by a Soros foundation and serves as a front for ACORN. The WFP bussed “protesters” to the homes of AIG executives in Connecticut. WFP, ACORN, the news media and congressional Democrats all played a role in the political theater that was choreographed out of the White House and began with Obama’s class warfare rhetoric against AIG.

Pretty sure if they had; we would know by now. There is a great deal of irony in that every MO that the Left adapts; plays from what seems a polar opposition; a reversal of all things rational; moral and true. We try and explain this by offering that it is as 'if they lived in an alternate universe'.

Can only say; as Obama plays out HIS realties; it could not be more clear; these people do live in an alternate, parallel universe.

“Lauria is doing the right thing if he wants to stay alive. Keep it loud and keep it public.”

CRITICAL POINT. If you can get high-profile enough, then you are untouchable. The people associated with Clinton that died were the people who did not speak out publicly and thus could die off quietly. If this guy does in a “car wreck”, it will be obvious to everyone just what kind of government we now have...so he will not die.
