Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be part of the National Council for a New America, an attempt by leaders in Congress and potential 2012 presidential candidates to rebrand the struggling party.
"I am pleased to announce that Governor Palin has joined the National Council for a New America's panel of experts," said House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (Va.) today. "When NCNA was announced last week, we spoke about a dynamic organization that worked to constantly bring in new people and innovative ideas."
. . . . .
Palin's involvement in the group will help rebut the idea that the National Council is an organ of the establishment wing of the party set up to keep the Palins and Gov. Mark Sanford's (S.C.) -- both of whom are more hardline conservatives -- from taking over control of the party.

S'long for now.
Well, I hope you are right. I hope she is accepting for the right reasons.
She also needs to take advantage of being in the area and start organizing some national relationships for her campaign. It’s never to early to garner endorsements and build your organization.
I hope she can remain true to her principles in front of a now groveling RNC and viper media. It won’t be easy.
This is an ethics violation!!!!
redk...I totally disagree with you. She learned A LOT from her experience-—and certainly now knows more than any potential rivals. Politics is a game. You can’t be a player if you’re afraid to get in there and mix it up with the other players. This move allows her to not only keep tabs on other Republicans, but it also allows her a national platform for her pet issues, energy independence and national security. She participates on her own terms—where and when she wants to. It also allows her to measure her support. Jeb, Mitt and Eric attracted an audience of 50 or so. Let’s see how many folks turn out if/when Gov. Palin decides to attend a town hall meeting.
I hate to see this. I wish politicians would do the honest thing instead of trickery.
Frankly, I’m okay with it.
In fact, I’m glad to see another very conservative sitting Governor on the team.
She is joining Haley Barbour and Bobby Jindal.
I hope that, between the three of them, they can yank some sense into some of the others.
Romney...he’s of absolutely NO consequence.
He’s irrelevant, except to himself. ;o)
Since she's joining Haley Barbour, and Bobby Jindal...not on your life.
How the heck do you justify that statement?
She’s in very good company.
Haley Barbour and Bobby Jindal
So...you think that a sitting Governor putting her state first is a bad thing?
I also wish people would quit trying to know what I am thinking.
The answer is no.
Frankly, I think it would have been just great, if she had said that she wouldn’t be joining any RINO team now or in the future, so Barbour and Jindal would be joining her to develop a plan that didn’t include them.
I think your comments have merit, I’m just sick of some of these RINOs acting as if the Conservatives are why we lost, and that we need to add moderation to moderation.
I’m sick of it.
Good grief. One more hopeful joins the Rino fold.
Can’t we just have a viable third party already?
This organization is Romney’s. He has also bought out most of the major satellite “conservative” organizations associated with the formerly grand old party. One of these days you’ll wake up and realize this. I hope you’ll remember this exchange when you do.
Yes they did.
Fortunately she is smarter and more politically astute than the lot of them.
Precisely why they hate her so!
I am disappointed in her. RINOs do not make good bedfellows.
The same ones who were bashing her for not going are the same ones now who are bashing her for going(First of all, she isn’t going anywhere, I have not seen her mention she is actually going to any event, her statement was very vague which means she isn’t totally Ok with this group yet)
This is what I wrote on Conservatives4Palin..
I LOVE listening to Rush. He is talking about how the left are scared to death of Sarah. I love how he sticks up for her, it’s too bad others won’t do it. Now on to this Republican tour, at first when I heard about this tour, I wanted her to go, but then when I heard the crap that came out of Romney and Jeb Bush’s mouth I said “No Sarah don’t go, don’t get mushed in with those RINOS” but look, I see it this way. I think since Sarah is really new to this, she is a rookie, she is used to dealing with those whackos in Alaska, and she is doing a great job up there. But the big wigs down here, she has no idea what kind of jerks she is dealing with here, the ones that are ONLY mentioning her name to get publicity, they are gonna try to use her AGAIN, especially Romney and especially McCain.
McCain used her once, then slapped her in the face by smearing her after the election. But hey, what do I know, maybe she will make these idiots actually LISTEN to her and see what has to be done to fix the party. Maybe they won’t. That is why she isn’t really committed to all of this. I mean, has she mentioned ANY event with them that she is attending..nope..she just said she will try to work with them, that is very vague, she doesn’t sound very enthused about joining them. She needs to start working with Reagan people, who can show her what has to be done. The people who are working with her now, Meg Stapleton, the others, they are great, but they are NOT the people to deal with the national level, only Alaska level. She needs to get Rush on the phone and have a conversation with him, he can help her, he wants to help her.
She just needs to pick up the phone and get some advice. You all must remember, she is new to all of this, and I think she feels that she needs them in order to gain any national prominence, she does NOT need them. She never did..but she thinks she does, she does NOT, they need HER. She needs to find out who her friends her and stick with them, those who have her best interest in mind, instead of those who are just using her to gain fame.
