"Ted Jarosh, who describes himself as a strong defender of the right to own and legally carry guns, said last week he will ask the city attorney Tuesday whether the city could classify certain acts of so-called open carry as disturbing the peace."

----------------------------------------------------

Just as President Obama is a "strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment". What a pathetic liar. I can just hear this guy saying "Who you gonna believe? Me or your lying eyes?"

No one needs to justify exercising their Constitutional rights.

My tagline sez it all.

though I do prefer concealed carry. I believe both to be not only constitutional but pretty much required by the constitution.

“you’re disturbing the peace,” Jarosh said

Exactly who’s peace is being “disturbed”?

Wow, he hunts.

Enough of these useful idiots.
Hunting never had a damn thing to do with it.
Liberals bring up hunting as if it adds an ounce of credibility.

If the politicians in Wisconsin would start treating crime with anything other than kid gloves, then a person in Milwaukee or elsewhere would not even consider wearing their gun while working in their yard.
I lived in Milwaukee in 1963. There were parts of the city THEN that were not SAFE. I believe it has gotten alot worse, since a person thinks they need to be carrying to do their yard work.

"Ted Jarosh, ...said last week he will ask the city attorney Tuesday whether the city could classify certain acts of so-called open carry as disturbing the peace."

As long as we're allowing our personal viewpoints to color the law, perhaps he should ask the city attorney to expand the public indecency laws for those of us that feel naked without a firearm.

And the paper never sees fit to ask, or even define, what qualifies him as a “strong defender”.

NRA or GOA membership?
RKBA activities?

They probably call The Brady Center a “gun safety organization”.

"Carrying a firearm just to....prove that you have the right to do it, that is a misuse of the law," Jarosh said.

That is a total, complete non-sequitur.

If one has the right to do it then how can it be a 'misuse of the law'? What law? The law that says one has the right to open carry? That makes no sense as well. There is no law that says someone has a right to do something. We have the right irrespective of ANY law.

Jarosh is a moron.

“or prove that you have the right to do it, that is a misuse of the law”

One does not “misuse” the law by following it. Perhaps he feels that way about excercising the right to vote.

Why not ask the cop why he issued a ticket for a legal act.

Ted, you are an idiot.

No, seriously, you are a “man” with extreme mental retardation if you believe mowing your yard while carrying a firearm is “disturbing the peace”.

The 2nd Amendment covers this you mouth breathing fool, “Shall not be infringed.” means what is says. Your opinion as to what is and is not “disturbing the peace” is no more valid against The Second than that of a garden slug. Perhaps less.

Get out of politics and find something more fitting your skill set, like janitor or ditch digger.

“I think that if you carry a firearm to mow your lawn - unless you fear polar bears or pterodactyls are going to attack you - you're disturbing the peace,” Jarosh said.

I think Jarosh is a NAZI. The statement that he supports gun rights is ridiculous. The media apparently learned last November that they can call “up” “down” and “day” “night” and vice Vela's and the voting schlubs of America will buy it.

Jarosh, 52, a nine-year alderman and president of Kyle Central Credit Union in South Milwaukee, said he wants to prohibit the open carry of guns when there is no apparent purpose for doing so.

So what if your purpose is not apparent? Are we going to have the cops attacking law-abiding people in order to find out what their "purpose" is for following the law?

unless you fear polar bears or pterodactyls are going to attack you -

What with the arctic ice melting and the polar bears not able to swim, they might be moving south looking for food. Therefore, fear of being attacked by a polar bear is not quite so far fetched as it was at the start of the Bush administration, is it? As for the pterodactyls, aren't they on the endangered species list?

How can my purpose for carrying a firearm be apparent?

The most obvious purpose would be to protect my life, my family’s life and my property. Other than those reasons someone would necessarily have to ask.

The above in no way should be suggestive that I agree with the alderman that any law-abiding citizen needs any reason to carry openly or concealed.

Not being from Wisconsin I will ask; What are the concealed carry laws in the state. Does it require a permit to conceal carry there?

If Wisconsin requires a CCW then the obvious reason to open carry becomes “I don’t want ot bother getting the CCW permit so I carry openly".

"Carrying a firearm just to incite the public or prove that you have the right to do it, that is a misuse of the law," Jarosh said.

Wrong dip$hit! Try this:

"Exercising your free speech just to incite the public or prove that you have the right to do it, that is a misuse of the law." See...sounds pretty stupid doesn't it?

There is no law that lawfully negates a constitutional right.
