Swine flu might be in S. Utah

TOPICS: News/Current Events; US: Utah
KEYWORDS: flu; influenza; swineflu; swineflue
I prolly goofed this up. Don't know how to post a vanity. Hey, I'm new around here. Please, someone straighten out my post!

But I went into Walgreen's a couple hours ago and the kid who checked me out was wearing latex gloves. I asked him what he knew that I didn't know and he whispered to me that a "bunch" (his words not mine" of people in Hurricane UT have The Flu. This has NOT been reported in Utah yet. I came home and called my sister, who has a compromised immune system and she thought it made sense. Since her daughter's local high school had an "emergency faculty meeting" yesterday. FYI...I'm 6 miles from the AZ border.

I did, indeed. I moved because I could not take any more "weather." However, my heart is still firmly in the Buckeye State. I miss: The food (Told my son to send me 4 loaves of Orlando Italian Twist bread for Mother's Day . He thinks I'm nuts) And the first stop I make when I go back is Mr. Hero. lol The cool people My beloved sports teams The wild west of NE Ohio, Geauga County (I have gone back, flying 2000 miles each time, to coincide my visit with The Fair)

Do not be anxious about this. Go to the Vitamin D Council and read about the research on influenza done by epidemiologist Edgar Hope-Simpson. The Council also has a couple older newsletters on the subject as well.

Just to perk your interest, the Council cites scientific research that proves the flu isn’t transmitted like colds, so masks and gloves are not a protection. In fact, the flu virus is all around us continually. It is only when certain environmental conditions are met as well as a Vitamin D deficiency that individuals come down with it.

Thank you for your reply. Because of other freepers who confirmed your call to Vitamin D, I was able to alert my sister to this important news earlier this evening. She was shocked, I tell ya. My only interest in this (because I’m too damn stubborn to pick it up...I am refusing to particpate in this pandemic. LOL) I need to be healthy in case my sister gets sick and I have to help out her family. I’m too much of a cement head to croak of this, but I have to help out the “kid.” (Hey, she’s 4 years younger. To me, she is still 7 years old, snoring in the other bed in the room! LOL)

Thanks for your reply. All of the angels are FReepers, I’m convinced.

:)

There are a lot of folks around here who think this is overblown, a lot of nothing, etc.

They are probably some of the same folks (the vast majority of Freepers) who adamently insisted that Hillary could never lose the Democratic nomination to Obama when I insisted he would be the next POTUS.

:-)

Err on the side of caution.

I keep going back and forth about this. You know what really bugs me? I click on a post to get some information and the comments are one-liners or people rolling their eyes at some of us who want to just be a bit cautious!

Hi. I don’t think there’s much to “straighten out”, except maybe it could’ve said “(vanity)” and maybe could’ve tried putting it under the “Bloggers” or “General/Chat” areas instead of News right now (because you have no source except 2nd-hand gossip, FLOBW).

Good that you pointed out you’re new to this; usually anyone who’s “new” and doesn’t post properly is trashed as a troll (unfairly, if you ask me). Honestly, FR is NOT easy to figure out how to use, especially for thread-starting.

Welcome.

I am getting a lot of good information from the Denninger Blog (you can google for link) in the Flu section.

It looks like the WHO and the CDC can't figure this flu out at all. They are getting false positives and false negatives on the tests and don't know why.

Imho that is why press reports and public statements by officials are contradictory with their actions and their other statements.

If China and Japan are freaked out about it to the point that they are quarantining foreigners you are allowed to be a little concerned. :-)
