Here is another one that gives me hope:

Election night coverage of the Conservatives led by Thatcher gaining a majority in parliament and sweeping into power.

I like this one from Thatcher too:

God bless Margaret! I was too ignorant to appreciate her leadership and wisdom was she was Prime Minister. I have grown to respect her more and more as time goes on just like I do Ronald Reagan.

Great video, thanks for sharing it.

I lived in the UK for the last few years of Mrs. Thatchers Prime Ministry (is that the right way to put that? )

I remember people telling me that before she came in power:

People who lived in counsel estates (welfare housing) would strip the house of everything worth anything and sell it. They knew the counsel would come and replace everything. They would pull doors off and burn them for heat bcuz they did not want to pay the heating bill and they knew the counsel would come, replace the doors and fix the damage. They would call the counsel to come and change light bulbs, do the gardening... everything. Thatcher put an end to that.

The buses and trains were filthy, disorganized and cost the taxpayers a fortune. She privatized them.

The National Health was too bloated so she got rid of a lot of the pencil pushing middle management and hired more doctors and nurses.

And I know, from living there, that ppl were scared sh*t of her. Even in her own party, they were terrified. Everything was “yes Prime Minister”. Whatever she wanted. And if anyone went against her, they were made minster of dog catchers. she had a lot of cabinet reshuffles. The Iron Lady!

But, it is my opinion that the UK went right down the tubes since she is gone.

“But, it is my opinion that the UK went right down the tubes since she is gone.”

And they got their worst Prime Minister ever in Tony Blair. Where are the Thatchers and Churchills who’ll save the UK from the evils of secularism, socialism and Islam today.

John Majors was not treated very kindly.

Hahaha. I still remember the spitting image puppet of him. “The peas are very green, dear” :)

Tony Blair screwed up the country. But he was a loyal friend to us. And I appreciate him for that.

What a lineup the Western world had in the 1980s:

U.S. President — Ronald Reagan
U.K. Prime Minister — Margaret Thatcher
W. German Chancellor — Helmut Kohl
Canadian Prime Minister — Brian Mulrooney
Pope — John Paul II

Compare to now:

U.S. “President” — barack hussein 0bama
U.K. Prime Minister — Gordon Brown
W. German Chancellor — Angela Merkel
Canadian Prime Minister — Stephen Harper
Pope — Benedict XVI

“At least we have a great Pope!”

That’s very true. He’s the only one isn’t a drop-off from the 80s.

Seeing you asked: "Thatcher's Premiership" is the way it would normally be phrased. The office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is a bit of a strange one - while there have been Prime Ministers since 1720, it wasn't mentioned in a single official document until 1905, in an act of Parliament until 1917, and didn't become offically part of British law until the 1937 Ministers of the Crown Act (which made it clear that the Premiership was held by the First Lord of the Treasury who was also the Prime Minister). The Premiership is the accepted term for the administration of a Prime Minister.

Sadly, the anti-Christian freedom and anti-Biblical family laws Blair pushed during his tenure as PM prevent me from ever being able to appreciate him too much.

People on all levels of income are better off than they were in 1979. The hon. Member is saying that he would rather that the poor were poorer, provided that the rich were less rich. That way one will never create the wealth for better social services, as we have. What a policy. Yes, he would rather have the poor poorer, provided that the rich were less rich. That is the Liberal policy.

May God continue to bestow His blessings upon you, Lady Thatcher.

I'm starting to read, "Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher: A Political Marriage." I do miss the 80s.

Thanks very much for posting this.

Indeed. I greatly miss the Gipper and the Iron Lady. I despair that the West will never see leaders of comparable worth in my lifetime.

Best indictment of modern liberalism/socialism ever. Go get ‘em, Iron Lady! :)

Yes I agree, that picture makes me weepy too. I weep for honorable people in the government instead of the crew we have now, liars and tax cheats.

I really love those british “weekly question times” of the PM before the parliament.

Wish we had something like that.
