Ohio: John Kasich filing for guv today
The Swamp Politics ^ | 05/01/09 | Mark Silva

It's getting to be that time again:

The 2010 elections are right around the corner, and they're going to get pretty interesting in some of the most heavily contested states and congressional districts next year.

In Ohio, Republican John Kasich, a former longtime congressman and also commentator for FOX News Channel, plans to file papers today for a bid for governor, according to a well-placed source.

Republicans wanted Kasich to run in 2006, he demurred, but has been planting the seeds for 2010 since them - in March 2008, he suggested that Ohio's income tax should be "phased out.'' He served last year as honorary chairman of "Recharge Ohio,'' a group committed to finding leaders who could "get our state back on track.''

Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland presides over a state that the Democrats were able to corral for the election of President Barack Obama last year, a state which nevertheless has undergone extreme pressure in the recession now underway even before it was a recognized recession. How Ohio plays in 2010 will speak volumes about what Ohioans make of the Democratic strategy for economic recovery.

Kasich already is on the circuit: He served as the keynote speaker at the Richland County Republican Lincoln Day over the weekend and at a Columbiana County GOP dinner this week.

Granted he is not perfect, but you cranks who expect perfect ...

BTW, you couldn't get away with that saying it to my face.

I guess when you asked "so he's a rino then????" if I would have said "F... Yeah" it might have fit your preconceived idea for anyone that disagrees with you.

There is no evidence of any wrongdoing on Kasich's part

Kent, you are correct. No one is trying to connect Kasich with the Levy case. However, connecting him with Condit is easy. The two were great pals and very often out on the town together. Some very wild goings on. When the No 2 fertilizer hit the ventilator blades, Kasich lost no time hightailing it back to Ohio for an engagement and rush marriage that were a surprise to everyone.

Guy's a fink.

Kasich has some hanky-panky in his past and it concerns Congressman Condit.

Where is your evidence, Mr. Bunk?

Where is your documentation?

If you don’t vote for a man like Kasich vs. whatever Marxist Democrat shill, you don’t deserve to be in FR or in a free republic.

As far as me being in FR, you should take that up with the moderators. As far as being in a free republic, when there's no choice, as you suggest, it isn't a free republic.

And as far as the 2nd amendment goes, what's the difference between Kasich or "a man like Kasich" and "Marxist Democrat shill"?

I'll tell you. I Expect the Marxist Democrat Shill to take away my rights. I didn't expect Kasich to do so. Yet he acted just like the Marxist Democrat by not just voting for the gun ban but getting others to vote with him where it would have failed without his efforts.

And history has shown that there is no free republic when the only people that have guns are the gov't and the criminals.

Sorry, but “some very wild goings on” sounds like the E Channel gossip to me without specifics and so does the ‘rush marriage’. Surprise to whom? I don’t buy it and it sounds like Dem spin to me. Whereas his vote for the gun ban is and was quite real.

I understand you might not like Kasich for other reasons than why I don’t, but don’t expect any support from me on gossip or guilt by association.

I’m a ‘one issue voter’ on just the 2nd amendment and that’s from the history of free states and the fact that a gov’t that seeks to disarm people have other freedoms that they intend to and will take away once that is done.

Hi, Madame. Watch and see...this RHINO is going to have his ass kicked. Hate to say it, but Strickland, the incumbent dem, is more of a conservative than Kasich, who is yet another of our endless line of OheilO country club repugnants. And Strickland’s going to clean his clock.

Hi Ghost.

Aside from his willingness to sell out on the Second Amendment, I've always had an uneasy feeling about him. He seems to want to be liked too much.

Give me a principled curmudgeon any day.

Oh, give it some time.

Soon he will be sniped at because he has spinach between his teeth, or his gas smells more than some other (pure) candidate's.

Perhaps he is not sufficiently pro whatever he is not sufficiently pro for?

LOL! We must be about the same age. I’m not sure, but I might be older than Kasich.

"The two were great pals and very often out on the town together.

Condit was "pals" with a lot of Republican Congressman, including Kasich. Condit is pond scum. But, he's pond scum in great company insomuch as sleeping with interns, or hookers for that matter. And, if we're going to indict the pals of everyone of the Congressmen or Senators that have had an affair with a twenty something staffer, then we're going to quickly run out of both Democratic AND Republican legislators.
