McCain and Cantor tout new GOP policy group [to pander to Democrats]

Rep. Eric I. Cantor, R-7th, has helped start an organization that he says will assist in developing policy to confront problems facing the U.S.

In a conference call with reporters yesterday, Cantor said the National Council for a New America will solicit ideas across party boundaries from a wide spectrum of national leaders.

The founding members are all Republicans, as are the 14 current House and Senate members. Cantor was joined on the call yesterday by Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, who is listed as one of the group's "national panel of experts."

Cantor and McCain insisted the group is neither an offshoot of the Republican Party nor an attempt to rebrand the party after the electoral losses in 2008.

"This is not a Contract for America, it is a conversation with America," McCain said.

McCain described Cantor as the driving force behind the new organization. Cantor is the minority whip in the House of Representatives, making him the second-ranking Republican.

The council will seek policy ideas on the economy, health care, education, energy and national security, McCain said.

Democrats and independents are welcome to "join the conversation," Cantor said.

I think it’s a little late for “policy groups.” McCain needs to go home and “spend more time with the family.”

Too late, someone already let little Meghan out...

Why do we need a “New America?” What was wrong with the “Old America” that stood strong and proud and faced enemies with confidence?

McCain is poison to anything Republican, and the sooner he realizes it, the better.

McCain and Romney make this group sound liberal but Jindal and Barbour are certainly on the other side.

“The NCNA will bring together citizens from across the county to begin a dialogue with the American people through a series of forums, town halls and an online effort that will engage people in a discussion to meet our common challenges.”

The first town hall session will be tomorrow in Northern Virginia. Cantor and other leaders are to attend.””

No matter how they try to repackage it a pile of sh*t is still a pile of sh*t.
