Looking to rebrand a struggling Republican Party, a group of party heavyweights including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) are launching a new group that will hold town halls around the country and look to produce GOP ideas on issues like education and health care.

Republicans will announce today the creation of the "National Council for a New America," a group led by congressional party leaders that includes Bush, McCain, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal as its "national panel of experts."

A letter announcing the group's creation does not specifically say that it is separate from the Republican National Committee, but controversial RNC chair Michael Steele is not involved in the effort.

“National panel of experts?” They didn’t get things right in the past, why should we expect anything better in the future?

Saying that McCain lost implies that he ever actually tried to win.

Bush? McCain? Romney? Eric “I want Obama to succeed” Cantor?

She should stay as far away as possible. All of these guys should be either retiring or joining Arlen Specter.

Somewhat old news, but it disturbs me that Bobby Jindal plans to participate in this RINO tour.

hey, thanks for the heads up. idk, i like jindals stance on taxes and everything right now, but it seems like something’s up. he says he plans to stay here in la for awhile, but i get the feeling that he’d leave for washington at the drop of a hat. it’s kind of discouraging to think that he might only be pretending to be for the people just to get votes when he runs for pres or vp or whatever. but who knows. i always like to hope he really is on our side.

If Jindal doesn’t take the governorship seriously because of ambition for national office, he would be acting like the student athlete who drops out of college to go professional. In other words, no sense of commitment.

We shall see.
