This morning I listened in on Eric Cantor's conference call concerning the launch of the National Council for a New America (NCNA) hosted by Congressman Cantor and Senator John McCain.

One of the main points that the two men stressed is that this is "not a contract with America," but a "conversation" with her. The GOP leaders also stressed that this is an "inclusive" effort with which they want to hear from all manner of Americans adhering to a variety opinions on today's most pressing Issues. The two also said that this is not an attempt to "re-brand" the GOP.

The first townhall style meeting is to be held on May second in Northern Virginia and along with Cantor and McCain it is expected that Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush will be in attendance.

Additionally, several Governors past and present have joined this effort. Governor Haley Barbour, Governor, Jeb Bush, Governor Bobby Jindal, Senator John McCain, and Governor Mitt Romney.

Senator McCain also mentioned several times that they had contacted Governor Sarah Palin's office and asked her to join them with future NCNA efforts. Senator McCain made sure to mention that fact several times...

If they don’t know how the American people feel about their government, they shouldn’t be in office.

“National Council for a New America”??????????

Sounds waaaaaaaaaay too ‘progressive’ a title to me.

Good grief! Another “listening” tour?!?! This is ridiculous pandering. Although this time, these GOP RINO bottom-dwellers are attempting to “dialogue” with voters who want to kick them all out of the Republican party and most definitely out of Washington.

J-O-K-E

Not just McCain, but Graham, McConnell, Snowe, Collins...[fill in the blank].

They won’t listen anyway. They never do, never have. There’s nothing to discuss except their retirement.

Not interested in "conversation" or how "inclusive" you are. The GOP is in full cardiac arrest. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Cantor and other republicans, if they had a brain, would not join McCain on anything! He needs to go with Specter to the party he supports.

Not a contract but a “conversation!”

Typical of politicians. Talk everyone to death and then do nothing. That way when things go to S**t they can deny they did anything and that they were just throwing around ideas.

True to liberals, all talk and no action.

I’m more interested in the old America, unless the new one is sans RINOs.

How do we get a new America with the same old faces?

McCain had several opportunities to take the leadership of the Republican party by the reins. He chose to go along.

It wasn’t enough that he helped the country on its road to hell last year? Now he wants to institutionalize the practice for all time?

Think of his efforts to create a new America as an extension the way he tried to create a new financial ethic in campaigns through McCain-Feingold. How’d that work for him in 2008?

Oh, so NOW they want to listen. Not last fall when everybody was shouting at 'em not to spend us into poverty, but NOW?

Why, so they can jump in front of the parade?

McCain and Cantor... it's simple... cut FedGov drastically and get it the h*ll out of my life!
