The problem is industry is making junk.
People do not want to pay money for junk.
Whether it is movies, cars, fashion, or furniture the general population on which the ecconomomy depends are engaged in their own recovery plan. Spend less.
These people are “the forgotten man”. This is the 93% whose homes are NOT in default. This is the ones who are not going to be unemployed even if they have to dig ditches (or in an earlier era, sell apples on the corner).
These forgotten people know the tarp and the bailouts and the obama home rescue plan are NEVER intended to help Mr. and Mrs. America. Those DC insider “rescues” are just for DC insider political contribution insiders.
People are closing their wallets to the howls of washington DC and the politicians are furious.
Taking a low paying, menial job would be a bad use of time for a professional with skills. Time would be much better spent job hunting.
When I graduated college, I worked for over a month selling microcomputers. I never got paid a cent but it looked like I was working a “real” job and helped me get a job.
