Obama Targets Tea Bags at Town Hall (President Criticizes Americans Again)
Politico ^ | Wednesday, April 29, 2008 | Alexander Burns

Posted on 04/29/2009 9:56:39 AM PDT by kristinn

At his 100th-day town hall meeting in St. Louis, Mo., President Obama took direct aim at the anti-tax “tea party” demonstrations that have cropped up over the last month – and took a veiled shot at FOX News Channel, at the cable news network closely associated with the protests.

Asked about fiscal discipline and entitlements reform, Obama seemed to be repressing a smile as he jabbed critics of his spending plans.

"Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I'm not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, Obama said, “let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”

“But,” Obama continued, “let's not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act."

It’s the president’s most direct response so far to the protests that flared up in some locations around tax day, on April 15.

In his briefing that day, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters: “I don't know if there's a specific response to protests..I think you saw the president today talk about as candidate Obama promising to bring a tax cut to 95 percent of working families in America, and as president delivering that tax cut.”

Since President Obama obviously doesn’t understand the message we, the American people, are sending to him, let’s hope that the 4th of July Tea Parties across this nation are larger. The message must be clear as clear can be because obviously President Obama doesn’t “get it” (our point) yet.

Also, Gibbs needs to be informed of this ahead of time so that he can prepare his lies...I mean, remarks ahead of time.

Obama promising to bring a tax cut to 95 percent of working families in America

That is a lie!

As Judge Napolitano suggested last night on FOX NEWS, we could send him and congress a message by starting a campaign to repeal the 16th Amendment (allows the Congress to levy an income tax without apportioning it among the states or basing it on Census results). We could start by getting a petition going!

Ah, this is great! I hope Obama and the rest of his Democrat circus keep this up, because when the pendulum swings — and it will swing — it’ll swing hard. Could I be happy in an ultra-conservative country? In the words of Sarah Palin, “You betcha!”

If Oboma didn't see the Tea Partiers as a threat, he wouldn't be trying to build an army against them.

There needs to be more Tea Parties, so those who didn't know about the first can attend the second. No man should be used as another mans slave, and the tax slaves have their right to speak out as much as, if not more, than any left wing rent-a-mob.

Speak out now, slaves, or forever hold your tongue.

The Lennie Kravitz song "Culta-Personality" for some reason is running through my head....

The tune was by Living Color if this is the one you are referring to.

When is the follow-up to these Tea Party Protests. I think the next ones should include his being dismissive of a large class of Americans. I hope the next one draws a million - see if they dismiss it then.

This just ticks me off. All the tatooed, pierced, baggy pant wearing hired war protestors from Protests-R-US were a legitmate group to the left, but the tea party protests were nothing more than a group that should be scorned, ignored and made fun of.

How can anyone in their right mind think this president is anything but a danger to America.

“Oh no it’s not because I’ve tripled the national debt no it is still THEIR fault for not voting for it.” The man is a liar and his smirk will soon wear thin.

One of a few messages sent to whitehouse.gov:

“let’s not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act.”

LOL!!! Yep...we’re just a bunch of dumbasses Mr. Kenya! You made a mountain out of a mole hill and concentrate on the mole hill!! You’re incompetent, a liar and a thief stealing my children’s fortune to squander it on government agency employees and the other 5% that gets trickled down to the societal non-producers.

Debate any time — Any place....Mr. Community Organizer!

Yeah he is nasty, but he fights back. Obama’s hit back his detractors more times in a hundred days than George Bush did in 3000 days. By hitting back on the Tea Parties he can point out that there was little in the way of positive ideas at the parties. There was well deserved scorn for spending and taxing of the Dems but other than STOP there was very little offered. Obama’s hitbacks emphasize this. We have to be FOR something if we are going to take back the country. Otherwise get used to the Peoples Socialist Republic of America.

“and you see folks waving tea bags around,”

Hey Barry, the waving of the tea bags is a polite wake up call to YOU. If you keep fluffing us off, it won’t just be tea bags we’re waving in your face. Study your history dude.

whatever we call them, the Jon Stewart wannabes will find a way to sneer.

This kind of arrogance makes me want to go to a really big tea party. Maybe milions on Washington!

how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security

What's to discuss, Neo? We know how you intend to this. Basically, cutting health care costs amounts to eliminating much needed care from Seniors, thus accelerating their passing, and reducing the number of Social Security recipients. That's all. Just ask Jocelynn Elders. She described it all in vivid detail.
