WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge has awarded a former Army Special Forces commander nearly $500,000 because she was rejected from a job at the Library of Congress while transitioning from a man to a woman.

Diane Schroer of Alexandria, Va., applied for the terrorism analyst job while she was still a man named David Schroer. He was offered the job, but the offer was pulled after he told a library official that he was having surgery to change his gender.

U.S. District Judge James Robinson ruled Tuesday that Schroer was entitled to $491,190 in back pay and damages because of sex discrimination.

An army special forces commander becomes a chick. So does one of the guys who wrote "The Matrix".

Ever get the feeling God is seriously messing with you?

I don’t know which is more incongruous, a Special Forces “commander” becoming a tranny, or the fact that the Library of Congress has a “terrorism analyst.”

“He was offered the job, but the offer was pulled after he told a library official that he was having surgery to change his gender”

Sounds like an intentional thing. This is the plot-line of a south park episode. Mr Garrison intentionally tries to get fired for being a homo freak.

Seems to me that a job such as a “terrorism analyst” would require an objective, analytical, and stable mind. An individual with a psychological disorder, such as a gender-identity disorder, would likely not make the “best” candidate for this position. As the Library of Congress is expected to spend our tax dollars wisely and do diligence in vetting the “best” candidate for the position, how could they in good faith hire this individual? The finding in this lawsuit should definitely be appealed.

S/he looks like Ben Franklin with lipstick. The scary thing is s/he is still more attractive than Janet Napolitano.

... he was having surgery to change his gender ...

Nope. Surgery does not change your gender; otherwise this would have been the first lesbian married couple:

Not God,but the Devil must be behind the troubles of these mentally ill people.

I reject homosexuality, transgenders, and sex change surgeries as evil and ridiculous.

Only such operations as may be medically necessary to help those born with the physical genitalia of both sexes should even be considered.Just because something can be done is no justification that it be done.

“psychological disorder, such as a gender-identity disorder”

Right. And logically, the same is going to apply to any intelligence position, or military position. You would think if that could be argued then a decent lawyer would have tried it. But then again you’ve got a federal lawyer here who may have been all for a big cash settlement.

What law would define, or point to an authority on psychological disorders? You know & I know it’s a psychological disorder. But truth matters less & less today.
