See post #149 for a logical explanation. There is a children’s hospital in Houston for ‘infectious diseases’.

Do we know if this child received anti-virals at all?

It is PNUEMONIA that kills the flu afflicted.

So take your pick

* Bacterial pneumonia
* Viral pneumonia
* Fungal pneumonia
* Parasitic pneumonia
* Atypical pneumonia
* Community-acquired pneumonia
* Healthcare-associated pneumonia
* Hospital-acquired pneumonia
* Ventilator-associated pneumonia
* Severe acute respiratory syndrome

Chances are one of the above pnuemonias killed the little tyke.

HOUSTON (AP) — Texas’ health officials say a Mexican toddler who is the first confirmed U.S. death from swine flu arrived in Texas from Mexico on April 4 and developed flu symptoms four days later.

The Texas Department of State Health Services said Wednesday the Mexico City boy had underlying health problems when he traveled to Brownsville Texas to visit relatives. He was admitted to a Houston hospital a few days after developing a fever and other flu symptoms and died on Monday night.

HOUSTON (AP) — Health officials said Wednesday that a nearly 2-year-old Mexican boy is the first confirmed U.S. death from swine flu.

The child had traveled with family from Mexico City to Matamoros, Mexico and then to neighboring Brownsville, Texas, said Houston Health and Human Services Spokeswoman Kathy Barton. The boy became ill and was taken to a Houston hospital. He died Monday night, she said.

That figure is not a figure that’s come from the World Health Organisation

That's even more reason to believe it! I don't think we will sit around waiting on the WHO to give us information about anything.

In a normal flu the mortality ages are as you say, very young and very old. This flu could be different, like the 1918 influenza. That flu killed the young adults at a much higher rate. Scientists today attribute this to that flu’s tendency to over excite the immune system setting it against the body. Those with the strongest immune systems suffered catastrophic damage to their respritory systems as they were attacked by the immune systems.

YES...it is called CYTOKINE STORM...

Yep -- a 293-mile trail of infection.

Thank you, Obama.

Who is dancing? Mexicans came across the border with a sick child then traveled all the way to Houston, which is the largest city in Texas, for treatment - an idiotic decision at best. How many people did they infect along the way? I would be ALMOST equally outraged had it been a citizen, but knowing it was someone from Mexico, where this disease is spreading, makes me furious! Why haven’t the borders been closed?

Maybe the parents shouldn’t have been dragging the poor child around the country while he was sick!

Wait for all hell to break loose when (and if) they preface “visitor” with the dreaded “U” word...which their lips will hardly be able to say....”Undocumented”.

There were at least three references implying that the child had illegal or undocumented status. Our great state constitution states:
Sec. 3a. EQUALITY UNDER THE LAW. Equality under the law shall not be denied or abridged because of sex, race, color, creed, or national origin. This amendment is self-operative. (Added Nov. 7, 1972.)

We can no more claim that this child should be counted as a Mexican death than we could claim that the child did not technically "die" in the United States. The blatant hatred and animosity toward Mexican people, as opposed to their evil and corrupt oligarchy that passes as a legitimate government; is quite appalling.

Exactly. Like believing the number of pet deaths and illnesses from the pet food poisonings. The “official” reported numbers were a TOTAL FARCE, and as a result, many pets got sick or died because people weren’t properly informed and therefore didn’t take appropriate measures to protect their pets.

Well, that’s just great.

How did that Mexican baby get to Houston?

Drive past my home or fly over it to a crowded airport?

I suppose it would be politically incorrect to ask who paid for endangering many hundreds of people.

It’s just a hunch on my part, but I’m guessing that the Mexican baby didn’t have any medical insurance, so I paid to bring a victim to my downtown Houston, probably to one of the best, but crowded, hospitals in the country.

But let’s not tell the patients which hospital that was.

Hey, I’ve got an idea. The next time a Mexican who gets this flu here in America, the Mexican government flies the patient back to Mexico on their dime.

Not an American child, a Mexican one fleeing socialized Mexican medicine only to die in an American hospital.

Geez! The hype on this non-existent "pandemic" continues. Now WHO says only 9 people dead, not 154. Yet the media keeps hyping this. A month from now this entire story will have disappeared.

We have enough FREE loaders in the United States who are LEGAL. We don't need to import any more (and especially those carrying a deadly flu virus)! I happen to care more about my family's well being and I apologize to no one for that!

You owe this thread an apology.

Alrighty then. I humbly apologize for criticizing the celebration of the death of a freeloading illegal Mexican baby that happened to be in Texas.

Furthermore, there is no way in Hades that the WHO would be close to bumping up to Pandemic Alert Level 5 (which they are) if there were only 7 deaths!!!

Period.

It is PNUEMONIA that kills the flu afflicted.

* Viral pneumonia
* etc

Chances are one of the above pnuemonias killed the little tyke.

Well, they have antibiotics in Brownsville which should have done the trick then. Anti-viral meds could have been made available to the poor tike as well -- they were freely available in hospital pharmacies, even a couple of weeks ago.

More likely -- the little boy had hypercytokinemia (a/k/a, cytokine storm) that damaged his lungs beyond repair.

Furthermore, some scientists are beginning to believe that there are TWO different strains of this bug out there -- one highly more deadly and virulent than the other.

THAT'S why knowing IF and WHEN he received anti-virals -- it's not 100% conclusive the anti-virals work 100% of the time... I personally wouldn't gamble MY life, or that of my family, that Tamiflu would save us if I catch this bug...

Your snarkiness is revealing your real intent for being here now. Why don’t you scurry on back to DU and stop trying to make the good people on this forum look bad.

You have an agenda and it’s showing.

The blatant hatred and animosity toward Mexican people

Oh, please, get off your indignant soap box because that is a lie. Most of us are against ILLEGALS from any country but know most of them are crossing the Mexican border.

We are sick of being taxed to death to pay for ILLEGALS!

f I remember, aren’t young adults hit hard by the “bird flu?”

They do seem to say this frequently, it was the MO with SARS too.

They scared the pants off me with that. I have pandemic fatigue.
