Translation: Specter knows he is going to lose his primary so he is jumping ship to find ANY primary he can win.

IOW Specter is thinking he will keep his union support and not have to suffer any loss of support.

I wonder what this does for those democrats who wanted to run against him.

Absolutely infuriating. They have the 60 votes now, and Specter said a few months ago he would never switch.

What a little punk.

The sad thing is, running as Dem, he will probably win again and take the seat from the GOP.

It is Pennsylvania after all.......very likely he will win as the Dem candidate. He just knew he couldn’t win as a Republican again.

Say bye to that seat...Toomey will lose.

When I supported the stimulus package, I knew that it would not be popular with the Republican Party. But, I saw the stimulus as necessary to lessen the risk of a far more serious recession than we are now experiencing.

In which world does he live? People are getting laid off and furloughed right and left or allowed to work only reduced work weeks.

I think the pres__ent, his administration and the congress have made the climate for business untenable for the majority of investors and entrepeneurs.

Short term, this is bad news for the GOP.

Long term, this is GREAT news for conservatives. Guys like Specter are primarily why the Republican brand is in the toilet with average Americans.

What does Specter expect to get from being a Democrat? It's not like Leahy will move aside and give up his Judiciary Committee Chairmanship.

Will Republicans remove Specter from his committee assignments? Do Democrats have enough slots to keep Specter on the committees he's currently on now?

Interesting news. This can only mean that he fully expected to Toomey to beat the sh!t out of him in a primary battle.

I accept (in advance) the apologies of every Freeper who ever criticized me for suggesting that I was crazy for calling @ssholes like this radical leftists who didn't deserve the support of the Republican Party.

F#ck you and the horse you rode in on, Mr. Specter.

I've pinged Jim Robinson on this (with apologies for my language) because I'm going to be sending a $200 donation to FreeRepublic shortly.

This is not just about Democrat vs. Republican. Specter has been in the tank since days on the Warren Commission. His connections to Dulles who was fired as head of the CIA by Kennedy for the Bay of Pigs fiasco and then appointed to investigate his former bosses murder along with Specter smells. Kennedy’s assassination stopped the dismantling of the CIA which Kennedy promised just prior to his demise!

Oh my goodness. I would be freaking out but Rush is calming me down. lol. I live in Pennsylvania and now if he does this we are officially fully blue....Ugh! Even though Spector does not vote our side all the time it was nice to know that Pennsylvania at least had one Republican Senator not that he was great but still...
