A White House official tells ABC News that President Obama was "furious" to hear about the incident this morning when Air Force One and Air Force fighter jets appeared to be flying into the Manhattan skyline, scaring many New Yorkers into thinking they were about to face another terrorist attack.
Many buildings in lower Manhattan evacuated. Angry New York politicians lashed out at whoever was responsible for the incident -- which turned out to have been for a photo op.
An explanation was forthcoming in a mea culpa statement issued from the White House.
Last week, I approved a mission over New York," Louis Caldera, director of the White House military office, said.

It was a dry-run for hussein’s brothers in HAMAS.
They need to know how NYC will react to their next air attack, so hussein helped them out.
It’s his hand picked “staff”.
Well if New Yorkers weren’t so decadent and racist, they wouldn’t have anything to fear.
BO wanted a picture for his photo album of Air Force 1 over NY City.
I love how the pressholes constantly cover for President Super Fly. Like he didn’t know anything about it.
ain’t buying it, your convenient scapegoating tells the truth.
Where is the media?
Let's have it out. This guy says he told "local authorities." The Mayor of the City of New York acts as if this was a complete surprise to him. Are there any "reporters" left anywhere?
And will the "reporters" tell us about the previous "directors of the White House military office" who took it upon themselves to initiate a similar publicity operation in the past?

If he wasn’t on it, it wasn’t AF one.
Doesn’t make jetsetting look good, does it?
BS!
IMO, that @$$hole Gibss knew too.

White House Deflects Questions on NYC Plane Incident [I was working on other things, he said....]
Pressed on the issue, Gibbs said he would contact the White House Military Office but offered no further details on the incident. I have seen some news reports, he said, adding that he had nothing to add on top of what has already been reported.
I was working on other things, he said. You might be surprised to know, I dont know of every movement of Air Force One or what happens to it. But I will certainly talk to the Military Office.
CNN is now calling it a classified photo mission. Now, what possible classified information could only be gathered by flying Air Force 1 and two F-16’s up the Hudson river?
Ah, Meester Prexeedent, what a long nose you have. Matches your beeg tin ears, though.
Sure he's furious. Must not remind America of the events of 9/11/01 and why those "advanced interrogation techniques" might just be the only thing standing between us and another attack.
What’s he gonna do about it - play golf?
My bullshit meter just went off the charts.
Damn his luck, this incident will surely bring forth the hazy memories of that day, 9/11.
And for a 100 days the messiah had worked hard trying to convince us to forget that day; forget the war on terror; forget we still have enemies.
Of course any shenanigans that would remind the public instinctively of their fear and sense of vulnerability would be bad for obama business.
In fact it would be infuriating, after all that hard work!
