WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A new national poll suggests that President Obama is personally more popular than his policies.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll, released Monday, also indicates that 63 percent of Americans approve of how Obama is handling his duties as president. One in three questioned in the poll disapprove.
The survey, released two days before Obama marks 100 days in the White House, indicates that three in four Americans feel Obama has the personal qualities a president should have. But when asked whether Obama agrees with the respondent on the issues, that number drops to 57 percent.
"Americans have two different assessments of President Obama. One, personal. The other, policy," CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider said.
"What does the public find most controversial about President Obama? His policies, much more than his personal qualities."
"Now that Obama is president, the number who agree with his views on the issues has gone down, while the number who say he has the right personal qualities has gone up," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland added.
"That didn't happen the last time we had a new administration. In George W. Bush's first months in office, the number who thought he had the right personal skills to be president was lower than the number who felt that way during the 2000 presidential campaign."

Obama Communist policies will soon cause shortages of almost everything. We are in for a rough ride.
Do not forget all the freebie seeking moocher voters. They see the ballot box as an ATM for other peoples money.
“”What does the public find most controversial about President Obama? His policies, much more than his personal qualities.””
And THAT is exactly what the Tea Parties were about.
Stupid media.
You can ask the typical Obama voter if he or she thinks selecting an anti abortion VP like Palin was a good idea and they usually answer, “Sure.” Most of them are clueless about any of his policies.
‘....Most of them are clueless about any of his policies..’
exactly. And, imho, that’s the challenge for the Republican Party.....to educate the ‘every day’ person on how Mr. Obama’s policies will adversely affect their lives.
As of this time, I see no evidence of this happening...and there is very little time left until the 2010 elections.
Get ready for the Obama/Castro economy. Cheap price Nada available.
Translation: People voted for him without knowing what he stands for.
Like staying with a girl you don’t like just because the sex is good (not that I would know anything about that).
“As of this time, I see no evidence of this happening.”
Me either, but it’s not too late. Much of what he’s done won’t impact the economy till next year. Plus, if he pushes socialized medicine through, we may be seeing the early signs of lower quality and that will certainly irritate people who already had insurance. Of course, we need a Republican party with a backbone and I don’t see much of that lately.
