Why does that voice in my head keep saying the socialists are trying to manufacture a medical crisis as they have a financial crisis?
Only one case was severe enough for hospitalization, Basser said
He's not just talking about not dying, he's talking, not even needing hospitalization.
There’s really no reason for it to be more fatal in Mexico than in the US.
After all, half of Mexico already is in the US.
Agreed. I’m failing to panic, myself. The unusual thing about this outbreak is the time of year, but schools will be out shortly, which will eliminate one major contagion vector.
Stay out of Mexico, wash your hands.
There is something that isn’t right about this. It came up all of a sudden and the O admin is overplaying this.
I smell a rat.
Well folks here seem to be getting better on their own, for the most part. They did mention in one article that Tamiflu was used successfully, so how many of the US patients had Tamiflu (who knows.)
Antivirals are amazing medicines. I was 42 when I contracted the chicken pox, but I knew I had been exposed, so I took acyclovir, and I the entire course of my illness was 5 days.
“Authorities investigate eleven possible swine flu cases in Colombia and Minister Palacio says the government is on high alert - local media.”

Absolute nonsense. The only people who are EVER at risk from ANY influenza are the elderly with concomitant disease states, those with altered or deteriorated immune systems, and young children. If you’re healthy and you become infected, YOU’LL survive! Typical virus-hunter scare tactics! I assume they have all you afraid of the HIV retrovirus! You poor shlubs!
School getting out is a good thing. So many times flu is spread so easily in school or the work place for that matter.
My kid has one more week of college, then a few finals the first week of May. I told him, wash your hands often, carry a hand sanitizer with you (they have these neat little pens now that spray hand sanitizer and you can easily pack them in a book bag), and most importantly, if he thought he was getting the flu, get to the doctor and get an antiviral med within the first 24 hours of being sick.
Gave same advice to my husband about his workplace, and I work from home. We’ve come a long way in disease prevention too, IMHO, because at the grocery, you can always grab a hand sanitizer sheet on the way in and on the way out. That’s got to be doing some good in preventing the spread of viruses, colds, flu, etc.
Japan & others are taking the swine flu threat serious .
Japan is testing all airline passengers for fevers etc ...
We have our border wide open :(((
I heard a research guy from CDC say on radio last night that they had done research on virus and were going to release a press release saying this virus is genetically altered or weaponed by Communist Chinese. Press release was stopped.
We still have until the end of JUNE before school lets out!
At least we are at the other end of the state from NYC.
You might want to read this article. Top on page.

Note date Dec. 2008
Note countries involved
Most people who caught the Spanish Flu early last century got well, about 97.5% of them.
Of course, the 2.5% who didn’t added up to a staggering death count.
It may be an escapee. :(
Keep the borders open. Get the border patrol to hand out tissues and painters masks, and treat them as they come in. Lets be compassionate about this.
