Do any of you ever read the entire article before you post a reply? I don't always, but I recognized the tactics employed right away and expected the article would be entertaining even though I knew how it would end.

What happens in Olongapo, stays in Olongapo.
That is...if my wife never finds those pictures.

That sort of thing never happened at Parris Island. [grin] I remember the coffee can barbells but never had the pleasure of using them.
Another favorite back in the day at PI was to hold the M1 Garand at arms length, using just the thumb and curled forefinger of each hand to grasp it by the stacking swivel.
And you knew what was in store if you dropped your weapon in front of the DI.

And rank insignia is beaten into your arms when you're promoted too.
God forbid that you should reach the rank of Corporal and receive those dreaded “blood stripes” on your dress blue trousers. You walk the gauntlet and get a real beat down, arms and legs.

One thing that I’ve always told people (civilians) since I got out when they’re amazed at my cool in bad situations, and my physical endurance, is that no one can play head games with me, or work my body to exhaustion, because I’ve been up against the torture masters of the universe...and lived through it.

Yes, it’s true the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy... we are the MEN’S department.

It doesn’t sound to me as though a man wrote it, it is sort of feminine in tone.
