WASHINGTON - Campaigning before a church congregation on Chicagos South Side one Sunday in July 2007, Barack Obama said an epidemic of big city violence was sickening the soul of this nation.
Among the potential cures, he said, was permanently reinstating a ban on assault weapons.
One-hundred days into his presidency, President Obama says it remains a goal. But it is one the White House has been forced to abandon.

Thanks, I check em’ out.
That's no joke either it's made to be one.
Awesome! I like the idea of the stamp too! You may have just started something. :)
I see they are about 650.00 How many rounds in that mag? Looks like 14 or so.
For me, I justify it as reasonable regulation
Was this not what the English troops in colonial America was doing prior to the revolutionary war?
For me, I justify it as reasonable regulation
Is this not what Sarah Brady chants at every gun control law she wants?
Where are the words reasonable regulation in the 2nd amend?
I’m thinking wrong. Maybe 7 I guess.
10 or 12 but I have seen a 20 round drum.
You can never get complacent. The enemies of freedom are ALWAYS thinking of gun bans in the long term. They may be down right now, but who knows in a few years.
A German parachute knife, gravity type can be had for around $40. heavy duty construction.
Don’t have one yet but it’s on my wish list.
Don't you believe it. Not for nothing are they playing up the violence in Mexico, and it's supposed ties with guns from the US. Greta (on Fox) has been aiding and abetting the generation of the hysteria.
"Look how they (center fire rifles) penetrate this police vest".
If you have several months to wait, or a willing to pay a huge "gun show premium".
I've got a kit on order, two weeks ago they were delivering orders placed November 28th. Mine should show up just after Independence day. Also have ammo on backorder.
Fortunately I do have the receiver in hand, as well as the holosight, and a .22 rimfire adapter, so that I can afford to shoot it. At current prices the adapter will have paid for itself with the first brick of .22 LR I put through it.
No that would be an assault rifle. Intermediate power cartridge, capable of full auto and/or burst fire.
An assault weapon, OTOH, is whatever the gun grabbers can demonize as a "scary looking" weapon that they want to ban. IOW, any gun they can get away with banning.
Not only is that now true, more so than in the past perhaps. But it would actually address the source of the problem.
The Supreme Court last year ruled in Heller, subject to reasonable regulation ... Many states already have open carry laws. Many states also have laws which restrict carry in and on government property.
My guess is we have some 'lawyering' to do to get the fences around our right properly strung and limited. I don't think we can expect a complete roll back of what we have allowed to deteriorate over the centuries. But that does not mean we should not try.
The fact that the Supreme Court ruled the right to arms is an enumerated right, and is an individual right makes the test "reasonable" much more strict.
Florida has already said that you can carry a weapon in your car, without permit and few restrictions. They further have the 'castle doctrine' which has now spread to many other states.
Onward, wouldn't you say? We have to be proactive ... in properly staking out our claim.
They switch positions when you go out in the open, saying a long gun is much better, and there they prefer the shotgun for most people. Remember the old trench fighters of Vietnam, a 45 and extra ammo ... I think if I were doing entry attacks like SWAT does, then a shotgun would be my preferred weapon, with low intensity rounds.
The best way to figure this out is firing different weapons in enclosed ranges. Or even shooting a CQB course. What ever works for you.
You were asked two questions and you have failed to answer them.
You have done nothing but defend your demands for infringements on the right to bear arms.
The Heller case is not the 2nd amend. Nowhere in the 27 words of the 2nd amend will you find the words reasonable regulation.
You are right, no where does the 2nd say anything excpet shall not be infringed.
But when the SC rules, you can’t do much about that, now can we? Unless you have an idea?
Poll results from the same article:
“Should President Obama push to permanently reinstate a ban on assault weapons?”

Yes. We had the ban for 10 years. He should use up whatever political capital is necessary to reinstate the ban.

No. It was a mistake the first time around and it would be a mistake again. Existing gun laws are enough.

Maybe. Owning a gun is a right, but I’m conflicted as to whether or not average Americans should be able to own assault weapons.

The prices on the Boker Magnums and the Kalashnikovs seem to be holding steady as seen at “theknifeauction.com”. As nice as these knives are, it wouldn’t be wise to bring them to a gun fight though.
