I used to own cargo ships.
US flagged merchant seamen are Seafarers International Union and extremely well paid compared to foreign crews.
‘nuff said
almost no one flies the US flag on a commercial cargo ship anymore because of that Union.
but if you wisht to carry cargo between US ports or some government manifest then you have to fly US flag and carry US registration or pay for a voyage waiver.
We were once king of the seas like the Brits and Germans but the Union killed it.

I didn’t even hear Rush’s show, and I knew right off that the description of Somali pirates as “black teenagers” was just Rush’s mocking of the media and the DNC and liberals in labeling drug-dealing, gang-banging, rapping black punk thugs as “black teenagers.” Not that blacks have a monopoly on criminal punk thugs. Just that the liberal political correctness machine springs to the defense of the black punk thugs, and not the white ones. Hence, all black gang-banger criminal punks are described as just “black youths or children”, hence Rush’s irony.

Rush was talking tongue in cheek when he made those comments. He obviously isn’t concerned with the color of the pirates. That they were pirates was all he needed to know.
As others have stated, if Bush had given the kill order, the media would have viciously attacked him for ordering the assassination of Black youth.
Here the crew member taken hostage and returned home, seems unable to understand what the media does. Instead he mischaracterized what Rush was actually doing, and bought into the media reports of it instead.
