"Increasing the population is basically suicide, it's environmental suicide, it's utterly irresponsible," Kanck said.

No you idiot, what YOU are proposing is national suicide.

The Chinese would love this policy, seeing as Australia is a natural prospect for lebensraum, not to mention key raw materials.

I disagree. I think they should reduce it to 1/3 of a child. Don’t laugh.....some politician will suggest that one of these days.

An alternative would be to have Liberals have NO kids and Conservatives four per couple, minimum.

Some scary stuuff, the meme that the Earth is overpopulated is gaining steam.......utterly wrong that it is, and has been since Malthus scared the bejesus out of everyone in the 19th century.

I dread what is coming.

But as I smoke, I’ve been battle hardened and will merrily laugh as the NANNYISTS impose more and more draconian diktats upon the people...

In the near future, all citizens will be treated like smokers, or fatties, or whoever else is next on the list once the unpopular citizens are demonized and ostracized.

Enjoy.

restricting each couple to one baby, as China does, is "one way of assisting to reduce the population" and avoiding "environmental suicide."

Replacing "environmental suicide" with national suicide.

I have never been to Australia (though it is definitely on my list of places to visit), but from everyone I’ve talked to who has been there, it is IMPOSSIBLE to destroy the Australian environment. Except for the areas around the major coastal cities, the entire country is pretty much wide open, the Australian population could triple and it would hardly be noticed.

I dread what is coming.

With the EPA now claiming total control of CO2 emissions, they have laid the groundwork for population control. I suspect this may be the main reason for the controversial move. If you regulate what humans exhale you control the amount by controlling the number of humans.

said this week that Australia’s 22 million people must be reduced to 7 million and that restricting each couple to one baby, as China does, is “one way of assisting to reduce the population” and avoiding “environmental suicide.”

When ever these groupscome out with these plans I say YOU FIRST.You think they are too many people then act now. No one is stopping you from leaving..

The Zero Population Growth commies are back.

They insist on reducing native births and then insist on increased immigration rates to offset the losses.

What a bunch of fruitcakes. They are convinced beyond any doubt that because much of Australia is a desert, that it is all it can ever be, or it’s not “environmental”.

They probably object to people living in buildings, because it is not “natural”. Latrines, as well, defeat the important value of not having poop all over the ground. And fire bad.

The problem with this idea is that it seems that it will inevitably lead to a situation with few young people and many old ones who will be in need of support.

The young ones will have to be taxed to the max to support the old one’s pensions and health care. Its a longterm unsustainable proposition- unless the Australians find a way to reduce the older population.

It’s easier to change the politics of a nation to socialism when you import people at the bottom of the economic ladder who have no resentments towards socialism.

We are seeing it here too.

"one-child policy"

"have Liberals have NO kids and Conservatives four per couple"

The Left's Godmother, Margaret Sanger, wanted certain (non-white, uneducated) groups, to have a "no-child policy".

Certainly it would be fair, to apply that to the politically-demented (Ø-voters), as well.
