Reid splits from Pelosi on torture By: Lisa Lerer April 23, 2009 01:56 PM EST

Senate Democratic leaders continue to resist calls for creation of an independent commission to investigate the interrogation tactics authorized by the Bush administration.

“I think it would very unwise from my perspective to start having commissions, boards, tribunals until we find out what the facts are,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), reiterating his support for the Senate Intelligence Committee to investigate the interrogations.

Reid’s statement puts him at odds with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has called for a formal “truth commission” to probe into the interrogations and legal justifications for tactics like water boarding. And President Barack Obama opened the door to creating a bipartisan commission similar to the one formed after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Reid denied that there was any split among Democrats.

“I don’t think there is division,” Reid said. “Justice must be served. Retribution should not be what we’re talking about.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has called for a formal “truth commission” to probe into the interrogations and legal justifications for tactics like water boarding.

Pelosi has a lot of nerve considering she approved the methods including water boarding.

The way of Robespierre perhaps. The Dems are up to their necks in approving the same methodology.

If justice were to be served, Reid and Pelosi would be in Ft. Leavenworth for treason for trying to abandon our troops on the battlefield in Iraq.

Someone - maybe Mark Steyn - said today that they will probably not go for trials, simply because there’s no evidence that any law was violated, but will instead chose long, drawn out “hearings” that can provide inflammatory headlines every day but won’t actually lead to anything. The objective in all this is to demonize somebody (Cheney seems to be the one they love to hate) and distract public attention from Bambi’s horrendous mismanagement and treasonous activities.

Sounds like it. Maybe somebody reminded them that they could be on the losing side in 1010...

"Until we find out what the facts are"? WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT..

Thanks to Barack Hussein Obama, now the whole world knows what the facts are. We know who was waterboarded. We know how many times they were waterboarded. And now, we know what other interrogation techniques were used in addition to waterboarded. What other facts is Reid talking about.

Come on Reid. Don't be a pansy. Let's get you and Nance on the same page so we can get on with the business of exposing the Democrat party for the treasonous bastards they are.

Lies, lies, lies and just more lies....... distraction, distraction, distraction

These asshats are simply trying to keep Bush alive, so that they can keep killing him, again, again and again. This tactic has worked well for them... it’s a bog part of what got them into power.

They want everyone to keep looking at this dead horse, in hopes that you won’t see the train wreck they are about to drive into your backside.

Reid’s up for re-election. Time to start his every-six-years Campaign To Seem Conservative To Nevadans.

Of that I have absolutely no doubt. I don’t like Ried, but he’s smarter than Pelosi.
