Washington, D.C. – In advance to the Homeland Security field hearing on border security in Phoenix on Monday, April 20, 2009, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) made the following statement:

“The unfortunate reality is our Southwest border remains unsafe due to the drug cartels, and now more than ever, we must focus first and foremost on securing our borders,” said Senator John McCain.

“The current plan being developed by the Administration and organized labor calls for immigration reform that does not adequately address either securing the border or a legal temporary worker program and is a plan I cannot support,” continued McCain. “We need to act on the pressing issue of border security now, and then seek comprehensive immigration legislation that includes a temporary worker program. Any legislation that does not address these two key components is not real reform.

“I look forward to gathering all the facts from witnesses – including the Arizona Governor, the Arizona Attorney General, mayors, and sheriffs – on how to successfully secure our borders and reduce the increasing violence currently spilling across our border into Arizona and all across the Southwest.”

3). If found in this country illegally the first time, deport to country of origin. Country of origin pays the actual cost of capture/return. If they refuse, cut off ALL FINANCIAL AIDE

4). If found in this country illegally a second time, imprisonment for ten years. All prisoners would be required to work off the cost of the detainment - building the fence; building more prison space; doing other useful things for our country.

5) Three strikes and you executed. If found in this country illegally a third time, death sentence.
