Holding Pelosi Accountable For Torture

The speaker was briefed on waterboarding and other torture techniques used by the White House. She was part of the select group of congressmen and women told of the program. She did nothing to stop it and now claims she was never told it was going to be used. Porter Goss has a different recollection:

“We were briefed, and we certainly understood what C.I.A. was doing,” Mr. Goss said in an interview. “Not only was there no objection, there was actually concern about whether the agency was doing enough.”

For what it's worth, I believe Goss. Getting to the bottom of how the US became a torturing nation is not about one party or another. It's about getting accountability from all those who made it happen.

Every Andrew Sullivan column must mention gay marriage, where is it in this one?

I suggest that Pelosi be withheld any FORM of Botox or jet fuel as torture. ;)

Uh huh, just like they voted for the IWR and never thought Bush would actually use it.

Must remember to send Andrew a little thank-you note.

And I say it makes me feel a little better to know that when the curtain is closed and Pelosi and her friends are confronted with real danger they have the sense to sign on to do what is necessary to defend us.

Its been a while, but my recollection is that about 99% of the Congress and virtually every American supported our government (yes, Bush ‘43)in those dark, confused, desperate days in the middle of September, 2001.

I remember flags on cars,
Near unanimous approvals of the Patriot Act and other legislations

I remember anthrax attacks, snipers in D.C.

Plastic and Duct tape....

Condition Orange....

How soon so many of us have forgotten. ‘

The Danger is less now only because our President and our Congress responded...

These arguments and recriminations are about political gain

Barrrrrack is pandering to his “base.”

Politics as usual.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Pakistan......

Oh, BTW, do I understand it correctly? Does Pakistan have the capability to target the White House with a nuclear armed missile? Does Obama really understand that his daughters are sleeping on the big red “X” ???

NPR speculated this morning that a “bipartisan” panel will be assigned to quietly investigate the matter. They could make sure that niggling embarassments like Pelousi’s knowledge could be kept out of the final report.

This would well for the rats because public hearings would suck all of the DC oxygen for weeks and offer video clips of Bush administration officials putting traitorous rats in their place.
