A beauty queen who told America that marriage should be between a man and a woman says God was testing her faith in the row.
'I have no regrets,' Carrie Prejean, 21, said today about the question that may have cost her the Miss USA crown and led to her being called a 'dumb bitch'.
'By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith. I'm glad I stayed true to myself,' she told Fox News today.
Prejean, a blonde student was one of the favourites to win the Miss USA title at the pageant held on Sunday at the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino in Las Vegas and shown live on TV.
Having negotiated earlier rounds of modelling in a swimsuit and evening gown, she was down to the final 15 and had to answer a single question from one of the panel of five judges.
Prejean picked celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who is openly gay and calls himself 'queen of all media'.
Hilton asked her: 'Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalise same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?'
Prejean paused for a moment before replying: 'Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.'
She continued: 'And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.
'No offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be - between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.'

Perez Hilton is conspiring to intimidate Prejean and others involved in this and other pageants.
She’ll be remembered for years for her stand on this issue. How long would she have been remembered as Miss USA? Not very, I’d venture to say. Good for her. Perez, you are a jerk.

The winners of this contest are Ms. CA and, to a degree, Hilton, because they’ve gotten more publicity than the winner. Who even knew there was a Miss USA pageant on Saturday?

I saw her talk to Sean Hannity. She is an amazing human being. I greatly admire Carrie for standing up for what is right and not backing down. As a fellow Californian I am proud to know that she is from my home state. God is on Carrie’s side and he will protect her through all of the vicious, nasty hate from the left

If character is how one behaves when people are watching and it could cost you, the wrong person won the contest.
In a contest of the shallow, contestant Prejean stands out. ‘Tis a pity she didn’t win.
Perhaps that is because a perv was one of the judges. There is a reason homosexuals were proscribed in the Old Testament.
Somehow I think she will have many more happy offspring than Perez Hilton
You have to admire a woman who puts her God before some Miss USA title. The homo punk lost in the long run.
