"Exactly how much ready cash do you suggest we safely stash, anyway? Inquiring minds need to know........."

Of course it depends on the amount of cash a person has available to him or her and on their needs. I would recommend enough to cover expenses for one or two months at least. Prudent business owners need enough to cover expenses and salaries for a similar time frame.

These precautions will help if a run on the banks actually occurs by lowering the panic.

“...and small business owners were not the group he was referring to.”

And you know this...how?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2234007/posts?page=7#7

“businesses dont close because people retire..”

I’ve known many small business owners who closed their businesses upon retirement because their kids didn’t want to be involved with the business.

I bet those kids are rethinking that decision.

Sad...

I’ve known some who sold their businesses so they could retire. Most of them have closed due to mismanagement, or they went through a lengthy and expensive bankruptcy, before they closed.

I actually know of one case where the founder of the business retired, the kid took over, and ruined the place so badly that the founder at age 72, had to come out of retirement to manage the business.

I’ve known of many cases where the second generation had no clue about business when they took over, even though they had been groomed for the position.

No sweat...no glory...

Glenn Beck is already selling an image of the Beast.

It is a wobble-head Dashboard 0bama.

ha, im feelin the love tonight..

its not going to happen in these economic conditions, but if a large number of retirement age people were to actually retire there would be a lot less unemployment. i dont see the problem with that statement. im not advocating throwing anyone to the wolves or setting anyone afloat on an iceberg here.

When I read these items, I try to imagine what might cause them.

And lately, I’ve been getting the distinct feeling that something is going to happen OUTSIDE the financial system to cause all this stress.

What I mean is something like Israel using nukes in the mideast, or we find out the Earth is gonna get hit by an asteroid, you know, something like that.

I hear you. There are so many problems festering out there, it would just take a spark to set forth a catastrophe unlike anything we have seen...

Not that it will do any good, but my little bird told me that her April home sales will be better than Feb/March combined.

Are the entitlement programs these retirees would then file for ready for that?

"I now have to call my bank days in advance just to get a few thousands dollars in cash. Checks that used to clear immediately now take up to 10 working days. They wanted 15 days until I made a big fuss and threatened to pull my account. Something is stressing the banking system even at the local level. I recommend adding emergency cash to your list as well. ;-)"

Yours has got to be an isolated instance. Why? Because were this going on with any sort of regularity it would be all over the blogs and given the medias propensity for gloom and doom, all over the networks and newspapers.

The jobs retired people have are not the jobs that would make a difference since no one but a retired person wants these days wants to be a greeter at Walmarts or a checker at the local stop and shop,

Yeah, I saw it wobble on his show yesterday. If you buy one, just don’t get pulled over by a black cop for speeding.

Actually, I’m still very partial to the Obama Chia Pet, myself.

“Makes one wonder who really is behind the curtain on Wall Street.”

Every day, fewer people are laughing at the conspiracy theory.

"April home sales will be better than Feb/March combined."

Should be interesting to see how the collapse of the commercial market effects this bit of news when it "officially" is released.

"Yours has got to be an isolated instance." Man, I hope so... but doubt it. Not earth shattering enough to make any of today's news I fear...

This is only my opinion. Hal Turner is very late to come to his conclusion, and is taking information available from other more reputable prognosticators to make a grand stand.

Most of us who have followed the financial “specualtioning goin’ on” have known that a total melt down was inevitable at some point. About the only fun wecan have, after getting all the preps taken care of, is trying to figure out when the debacle will start, and what will be the trigger.

Get prepared, and stop procrastinating, Friends!

Yes, you can put it outside and let the dog water it.
