The U.S. House Judiciary Committee will vote on a controversial legislation next week that seeks to add homosexual and transgender people to the list of classes federally protected from hate crimes.

H.R. 1913, named the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Act of 2009, is expected to be passed by the committee next week and come to the House floor for a vote in the spring, announced Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), the original co-sponsor of the bill and an openly gay member of Congress, on his website.

Christian leaders have pointed to hate crime laws in England, Sweden and Canada, where Christians have been prosecuted for breaking these laws.

In the United States, 11 Christians in Pennsylvania were prosecuted under the state’s hate crimes law shortly after “sexual orientation” was added as a victim category several years ago. According to reports, the ten adults and one teenager were singing hymns and carrying signs at a homosexual celebration in Philadelphia when they were arrested.

But Rep. Frank assured that the new bill would only apply to violent crimes and “does not infringe on free speech in any way.”

President Obama has expressed support for the hate crime legislation in the past and is expected to sign the bill if passed.

Well if BARNEY FRANK says it won't be used to infringe on freedom of speech that's good enough for me. Now I KNOW that its primary purpose is to gut the 1st Amendment.

Just wait until this happens again and if someone grabs the Bible from him he will end up in a Federal Prison.

How will this law be applied?
After all these people hate themselves, that which they were born as. So should they be quilty of a hate crime then?

Evidently there can’t be any hate crimes against whites. Ain’t it comforting to know that nobody hates us!!

I look forward to the “cross gender fraud exception”.

That is, cross dressers, despite whatever personal motivations they have for cross dressing, are inherently trying to *deceive* when they are out in public. By definition, they are pretending to be of the opposite gender.

Now, while this, in and of itself is harmless, at a particular point it can become fraudulent. That is, when people desire to mate, often they provide valuable time, and money, in the effort to create a sexual relationship.

This often results in a man buying drinks, dinner, dancing, and other gifts of all sorts for a transgender person, on the *assumption* that they are a female. Sometimes these gifts can be very expensive. And they are gifts that would *not* be given to a known male.

But if the transgender person allows them to think this, without any effort at all to let them know that they are *not* female, then they are committing an act of fraud, either petty, or if the expense is large enough, serious fraud.

Taken one step further, men have even married genetic males who have had gender reassignment surgery, with no knowledge that the now-female they are married is sterile, and cannot produce offspring.

This is the “screwworm fly exception”, the fraudulent denial of the possibility of children. This is, or should be, very serious fraud, as in most of America “children are our most valuable asset.” And to deny someone their right of reproduction is a serious thing indeed.

Now this can be the flip side of a “transgender hate crime”, that is, by itself it provides at least *some* motivation for even violence against that transgender person, as much as if a person caught a pickpocket trying to steal their wallet.

Is it legal to beat a thief if you catch them trying to steal from you?

Well, you are *supposed* to detain a thief for the police, and they might get roughed up in the process. But right now, the courts have not even asserted that “fraud by transgender deception” is even a crime.

So is it, or should it be a crime? If so, then it is the ‘flip side’ to at least one kind of transgender “hate crime”.

Yep.
I can see every left wing goof group that is part of the crazies known as the democrat party getting “special” laws that protect their sorry rear ends.
Blacks, homosexuals, n.o.w. , teachers, lawyers.
O yeah, they already have special laws to protect only them.

hate crimes

Perhaps I don't understand...aren't most crimes committed out of hate or some malicious intent? "Hate Crimes" is simply codifying into law the liberal belief that some people are more important than others.

This must be challenged in court. Gender, skin color and physical handicaps are (for the most part) immutable conditions that cannot be changed by the possessor. This is how laws protecting these classes have been upheld. Has it been scientifically proven that homosexuality is anything other than behavior? I'm sure Justice Scalia, God willing, will ask where the "gay gene" is...
