Is Palin the Rev. Jackson of the GOP?
Politico ^ | 4/20/09 | JEREMY D. MAYER

Posted on 04/20/2009 3:35:37 AM PDT by thomas16

How can a telegenic woman with a fervent following in the party, fundraising skills and a greater ability to fire up a Republican audience than any other GOP politician be such a liability? It’s not just because she’s unelectable as a presidential candidate.

Many leading Republicans and Democrats are, for one reason or another. The problem is, Palin doesn’t know she’s unelectable, and neither do her followers......So Palin has a positive future in the Republican Party if she wants it. But running for the top of the ticket of her party’s presidential nomination in 2012, she’s the Democrats’ dream. They win if she loses, and win bigger if she wins.

This author doesn't seem to understand the election proess in our gummint is over. We have had our last real election. Hard to tell which oneit was for sure but it is definitely behind us.

Our next election ballots will be replaced with bullets. We are losing the soap box and have lost the ballot box. Ammo box is the only one left.

And while Americans have had presidents with short résumés, some fringe political beliefs or questionable intellects, the potent combination makes Palin unelectable.

Amazingly that sounds the writer was decribing oBoBo!

It’s from the Politico. Don’t need to spend any time on rebuttal.

The left and pro-abortion republicans will be telling us Palin is unelectable for the next 8 years. The chorus will grow louder and louder, and it will be impossible to find Palin’s name mentioned in a MSM article without the word unelectable following her name.

Not hardly.

Palin is articulate and a conservative. Jackson is a blithering imbecile.

Well, I’m in the minority but I, too, feel she’s unelectable.

Not that I don’t like her, but we have to be realistic about the situation we’re in.

We have a liberal press, we have a lot of independents, Palin appeals to the base, but you can’t win an election with the base. I’m not saying you can’t win an election with conservative principles, I’m saying you can’t win an election with conservative issues, and with distractions like family matters.

The reality is Palin has “issues” that will not go away, and will continue to be politicized whether they should be or not by the MSM, and it makes her unelectable, not unworthy of election, but unelectable.

Rev. Jackson is a shakedown artist and black racist p.o.s.
Mrs. Palin is a patriot.

That's pretty much the way I felt about Zero last spring - If only the DimRats would nominate that inexperienced Marxist we'll have it made...

***Palin’s background isn’t nearly as problematic as Jackson’s, and she has, of course, been elected to public office. But Palin was widely perceived to be deficient in knowledge of national and international politics. Her inability to appear even minimally competent made her one of the rare vice presidential nominees to damage the ticket in November.***

For God’s sake, I thought I was reading the WaPo with this blithering nonsense.

“But Palin was widely perceived to be deficient in knowledge of national and international politics.”

NOOOO, she was attacked by the liberal media which twisted her words, and put them in BANNER headlines.

They are scared to death of Palin.

Well, Governor Palin has an actual political career, has never engaged in religious bigotry, and has stayed faithful to her spouse. And she’s attractive. So I’m not sure exactly what resemblance to the Rev the gentleman has in mind.

Your screen name should be sunset, not dawn. Dawn signifies beginning, and "hope".

YOUR reality isn't Palin. It's probably somebody else. But, the women of the USofA will likely vote with their ovaries! Most soccer moms relate to her, and lots of Catholics (who voted for Zero) will have a candidate to hand their hats onto.

Zero started his Prez campaign as son as he hit DC. She will do just fine outside the Beltway!

" For the same reason, if Palin chooses to run in 2012, no Republican will be able to go negative on her without losing the right-wing Christian populists who flocked to her rallies in 2008.

Palin’s background isn’t nearly as problematic as Jackson’s, and she has, of course, been elected to public office. But Palin was widely perceived to be deficient in knowledge of national and international politics. Her inability to appear even minimally competent made her one of the rare vice presidential nominees to damage the ticket in November.

As I said during the campaign, John McCain’s most effective attack on Barack Obama was calling him inexperienced. But McCain’s choice of Palin, who seemed to have the foreign policy knowledge of a bowling alley waitress, made these attacks sound silly. Worse, Palin’s vapidity, inexperience and hard-right social views drove many moderates and conservatives into neutrality or the Obama camp."
