The Extremism and Radicalization Branch of the Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division of the Department of Homeland Security issued a report last week. Its called Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.
I had no idea there even was an ERBHETAD of the DHS working on the RECEPCFRRR.
Who among us doesnt feel safer already?
The problem with it is that it makes little effort to document or demonstrate its contention that extremist groups are resurgent, that they are right-wing, or that they may be formed from the ranks of disgruntled military veterans. Worse, its very sloppy about what qualifies someone as extremist in the first place. Basically, its fancy bureaucratese for: Were guessing bad people will do bad things because the economy is bad and the president is black. But we have no real evidence.

I read the DHS report last week. I am currently in the process of re-reading Atlas Shrugged.
The DHS report reminds me of the "reports" in the book condemning Rearden Metal (from the book) without actually saying anything, and with no mention of any factual basis.
The DHS report could have been written by the same spineless nameless fictional bureaucrat as in the novel.
There are no objective facts, only opinion. Atlas Shrugged; p215.
Have you heard his before? How about this one from a few years ago:
The nature of the evidence is irrelevant; it's the seriousness of the charge that matters. Anita Hill, 1991.
Now we have Janet Napolitano making serious charges, while presenting no evidence to support them; and even admitting that she has none.
I seem to recall another Janet of dubious sexual orientation making charges for which the evidence was thin at best. The difference was that she was able to back up her position with tanks. It happened in a little town called Waco. Facts did not matter to her either.
I guess this gets me on their list...
How long before this Janet gets some tanks?

What of the “Left-wing” Extremists? Where is the ACLU calling for balance in the witch hunt?

It wasn't really a slam. Remember that Libertarian Republicanism had it's start in Arizona. Hess worked for Goldwater, as you obviously know.
It's a simple criticism. You can "live and let live" but it shouldn't include being willfully ignorant, which is what happened with Napolitano. Anyone with a critical eye could see that she's a twisted, deceitful liar bent on revenge against the Straight world.
You don't just walk past a problem like that and put them in the Governor's seat.
It's one thing to be uncritical and another to be malfeasant. And that's what Arizona Republicans have been - malfeasant. They let this fruit gain a foothold in a place where she shouldn't have made it onto the city council in Nogales.
