Since when are guns and ammo illegal in checked baggage? What was the bomb-making material? Hydrogen peroxide from Walgreens?

I wonder if Corporal Reed was already aboard Flight 877 when he was arrested.

This stinks.

“and a hand grenade fuse assembly with detonator.”

“This sounds pretty innocent to me.”

Fuse assembly yes, but shipping a detonator onboard a passenger aircraft is a problem.

The military pull-type fuses could be the type with the M209 cap, which is basically a shotgun primer, probably OK.

The “kit boxes with components” is definitely OK as long as he didn’t have KN-6 switches or sprytrons, but if he did there would be much more hysteria.

I don’t know what the DOT hazmat rules are for model rocket engines on a passenger flight but they could be a problem.

The grenade detonator is a serious problem, they are not firecrackers.

that does get to a carousel will just go round and round for a looooong time Unless this Marine had a long layover in Boston, there was no way that his luggage could have been put “back on the plane.”

Thousands Standing Around is counting on the sheeple not knowing how this works or how long it takes, ONLY that their report was right.

It tells me that the contents of the luggage were cosher in Vegas and something was slipped in it at the connecting airport. What do I win?

I saw it earlier. Thank you for the ping.

I have no good opinion of this.

I could speculate, but will wait.

Seems convenient that a 'declared bag' for another hop got onto the carousel by mistake and the items were 'discovered'.

This young Marine is in a world of ....

We're living in Interesting Times.

It’s breaking news, so I have no thoughts on this until I see more details.

It’d be easy to speculate, but I won’t.

FWIW, people might want to read the comments section of the Herald s page, and scroll down for comments by the two posters "EvergreenKate" and "ladygrace" who claim to have first-hand knowledge that the weapons were in fact declared in Las Vegas.

Thanks. That’s what I suspected.

If that turns out to be the case we have to beat this administration and the MSM over the head with it.

The report said the material was in his CHECKED baggage! Isn’t that where it’s supposed to be? Why was he arrested then?

The firearm must be declared at the check-in counter at which time the counter attendant will slap a number of stickers on the case that say FIREARM in big bold letters. (Might as well say STEAL ME to the baggage handlers).

Also the Marine is in violation of several DOT regs that prohibit the shipping of incendiary and explosive devices on passenger air craft.

Also I would doubt that he was licensed to posses the detonators.
