Video: GOP rep who voted for TARP booed mercilessly at tea party
Hot Air ^ | April 18, 2009 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Emphasis on mercilessly, especially when he says, “I have devoted my life to the conservative cause.” The Palmetto Scoop caught it all, and no wonder: Barrett’s been eating crap from South Carolinians for his TARP vote for months so everyone knew what was coming here, right down to the guy screaming “Go home!” for the full six-minute duration. Believe it or not, according to CNN, Barrett’s planning to run for governor next year. Don’t get your hopes up, Gresh.

Normally the sight of a Republican being booed off a stage would be instant “Daily Show” material, but Stewart’s naturally got his own narrative for the tea parties. They’re about Obama, Obama, and nothing but Obama. Just ask Cody Willard.

Interesting it was ladies...it was two lady RINO Senators who also voted with the DEM’s on some of the Porkulus spending.

We really need to pay attention to our “conservative” women; some of them have been voting emotionally for the other side but would never tell their husbands(”they would just get mad”).

I agree and I wish we were able to hear his words, we treated him like a conservative speaker on a college campus. Yeah he voted for tarp, I feel they should have given him the silent treatment it would have spoken more loudly than Boos. The silence would have communicated the notion that our concerns are met with the same silence we receive from our representatives when we voice objections to TARP etc.etc.

Wonder if Liberals and RINO’s will eventually get the message:

You’re being voted out and sent packing in disgrace!

They will not get any such message. Ever. The only message they will actually believe in, are the results on the news after they have been defeated in a Primary.

So, run. File. Or support those who do so.

Anything else, anything less is just talk.

Nope. Silent treatment would indicate that people are displeased. What he got was a message that people are fired-up mad. Sometimes it takes a slap in the face to get their attention.

The silent treatment would send a message that no matter how ridiculous his actions, people would remain in a dazed state and line up to vote for him like good sheep.

IMO, the crowd reaction was perfect for getting the message out to the Republicans like him that they can't spit in the face of their constituents and expect people not to get angry.

When you put conservative in quotation marks, I assume that you mean that the women to which you refer are not conservative at all. As a female, if any man (my dear husband included) questioned where my values lie, he would be in a whole lot of trouble. I made my husband mad by going to a Tea Party when he was out of town and hanging a tea bag from my rear view mirror. He thinks I leave myself exposed to danger for no good reason. I think it is for the best reason.

On a different note..That video warmed my heart. To see a man who voted against the best interests of those who voted for him nakedly exposed to their wrath is a thing of beauty.

... a judge .. . He more or less went through about 20 minutes of why EVERYTHING we do now is unconstitutional.

What did he propose we do about it?

What did he say he personally is going to do about it?

“The socialist Republicrat one party system is increasingly falling into disfavor with the public.”

Wishful thinking ...

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=acPmZqN1.Lec&refer=home

“Obama’s approval rating climbed to a high of 66 percent in an April 1-5 New York Times/CBS News poll released today. The poll follows recent surveys by the Gallup Poll, Quinnipiac University and the Pew Research Center showing that about six out of 10 Americans approve of the job the president is doing.”

Exactly. I thought it was a great idea when I heard one tea party wouldn’t have Steele there to speak, because it was time for the politicians to listen to the citizens.

Good that they BOOOED him, the Party Hacks (RINOS) should not be able to hijack this genuine revolution, and outrage!

I hate the GOP that wants to merely use them to regain political power. them them all out if the dont represent the American people!

Two things that surprised me the most about this after watching and enjoying the entire speech of him being booed.

1. That he had the nerve to go through his entire speech. Thats either balls of steel or a an arrogance that rivals Obama’s

2. That this wasn’t nationwide news.... when else will you ever hear conservatives booing any speaker as he is talking against the Obama administration, and for conservative values?

wow

He just made a campaign commercial for his opponents to use in the next primary. :-)

Ha ha I can’t believe they voted for TARP and had the nerve to go.

At our local protest, the only national politician who spoke was our Congressman, who voted against the first TARP, and all of the other crap that followed. He was well received.

Our Republican Senator, who voted for TARP, had enough sense to lie low, and our Democrat Senator stayed far away. :-)

Two ladies in front of us asked us not to turn our backs on Barrett. They said he made "one mistake".

One giant "mistake" can do more harm than a million small ones.

His “one mistake” was TARP, and TARP is the acid test.

It still sticks in my mind that after Sarah Palin joined the ticket, it was briefly ahead in the polls until Hank (the Bank) Paulson pulled his “September Surprise,” and gave us TARP.

it does have a little something to do with the socialist revolution he is leading (a revolution which far too many “conservative Republicans” are joining.
