Obama's Soft Polls
Human Events ^ | April 17, 2009 | Kellyanne Conway

“His numbers are still high.” “People like him.” “The President has the strong support of a majority of Americans.” These observations are common throughout the blogosphere and within the punditocracy to describe the current standing of President Obama. Trouble is, they rely upon a very thin and limited measurement: presidential approval ratings.

Most polls currently have President Obama’s “approval ratings” around 60%. That is not surprising, and likely will remain there or increase in the coming weeks. He’s likeable. Much of his campaign was built on his personal appeal. Plenty of the nearly 70 million people who voted for him are not about to second-guess their own judgment just five months later. Most Americans want the president -- whoever he is -- to do well, since they view (rightly or wrongly) a nexus between his success or failure and that of the nation.

But adulation abroad and a perception of charm and charisma at home is not a mandate for the type of sweeping transformations to the domestic economy and foreign policy currently on the table. After all, Candidate Obama ran on “change we can believe in,” not “revolution you must pay for.”

So, what time of the day do they call people for these polls?? What areas of the country do they choose to conduct the polls?? What are the specific questions being asked?? How many people’s answers are disregarded when they do not get the answers they desire?? Reporting any one’s popularity through polling is idiotic as statistics are extremely easy to manipulate (just as are liberals in this country).

Anyone who hasn't seen through the phony prez yet is a really bad judge of character.

“People like him.”

Only so called lefty “liberals” and the naive, socialist America haters, racists and black racists.

The gun and ammo makers really like him too. He’s great for that business.

They gotta rig the polls. The American people were out en masse on the 15th, and they are pushing a 1 million person attendance, not to mention the constant horns blaring at every protest.

Bagdad Bob, strikes again!

I haven’t met a single human who likes Zer0 as a person. “Snobby,””snooty,””arrogant,””in love with himself” are all descriptions I have heard of Obama from people I know. Some think he’s going to dole out some pork to them but that’s about as deep as the “affection” runs.

I don’t think he is likeable at all.

He is a phony jerk and acts like a jerk.

Nobama does NOT have ‘strong support’ where I live.

We didn’t want him in the first place, and it hasn’t gotten any better...

I am still adicted to “24”, but I am going to write a letter to Keifer Sutherland about hiring Jeananne Garfalo for this year’s episodes.

Her rant that Hannity played today was beyond despicable.

Sure hope she has the money to hire a premanent bodyguard. Someone other than me is going to be incensed.

Or me! I didn’t like him as a candidate - he’s unqualified to be, maybe even ineligible to be President. Since taking office he has 100% alienated me. The only thing he has done right as far as I can see is not set restrictive ROE, thus allowing the military snipers to take out the Somoli pirates. In every other respect he is a naive, idealistic, socialist disaster for this Country.

When you call 10 people and 7 of them are on the welfare roles, what kind of ratings do you expect to see?

From the article, “People like him.”

You said, "I don’t think he is likable at all. He is a phony jerk and acts like a jerk."

I think your comments describe the people mentioned in the article. Phony jerks like phony jerks. Obama voters.

The fact that they a polling every week indicates that they are very worried about his numbers and I know that his numbers have to be down due to so many disallusioned people who voted for him and now regret it!

They don’t pick special geographic regions. They use the Newsweek subscription list, but from every county in the the US.

The dumb bimbo even bites the hand that feeds her. “24” is a Fox program, yet she smears Fox News as though there were no connection. I hope she gets bumped off the show pronto. She told reporters that she took the job because she needed the money, so let’s make her needy again. Skank.

I seem to remember before the election, talk about certain black politicians polling better than their final vote count. It was called the Bradley effect or some such, that people were afraid to say that they wouldn’t vote for a black because they didn’t want to be seen as racist. I wonder if a similar effect could be in play here.
