WASHINGTON -- Franklin Roosevelt gave us the New Deal. John Kennedy gave us the New Frontier. In a major domestic policy address at Georgetown University this week, Barack Obama promised -- eight times -- a "New Foundation." For those too thick to have noticed this proclamation of a new era in American history, the White House Web site helpfully titled its speech excerpts "A New Foundation."
As it happens, Obama is not the first to try this slogan. President Carter peppered his 1979 State of the Union address with five "New Foundations" (and eight more just naked "foundations"). Like most of Carter's endeavors, this one failed, perhaps because (as I recall it being said at the time) it sounded like the introduction of a new kind of undergarment.
Undaunted, Obama offered his New Foundation speech as the complete, contextual, canonical text for the domestic revolution he aims to enact. It had everything we have come to expect from Obama:

From this thread I posted:
Obama Finally Tells the Truth (If you can read between the lines)
Obama reveals that people are just lucky. That hard work, innovation and intelligence don't matter when it comes to wealth.
Obama’s New Foundation is built on sand and every grain of that sand will be paid for in some form of higher taxation on ALL Americans. Its the way liberals and socialists do governments business.
But I do hope he is being sarcastic with this paragraph:
“An excellent strategy. If it takes throwing nearly $1 trillion of “porky” (to quote Sen. Charles Schumer) stimulus spending to soften up a Democratic Congress and make it amenable to real entitlement reform, then fine. Reforming Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid would save tens of trillions of dollars, and make the current money-from-helicopters spending almost trivial by comparison.”
Trying to use 1 Trillion dollars in pork to soften up the big-government, deficit-spending leftists in the legislature so that they reform SS, Medicare and Medicaid is like throwing a week-long binge before asking an alcoholic to stop drinking.
SS, Medicaid, and Medicare are failing BECAUSE of the leftists who used those systems either for funds or naked power. They will never reform those systems so that they will work.
Oh, and, one last point, those systems will never work because they are run by the government, which has no history of ever running such programs successfully. In the end, all socialist plans fail, because each is a Ponzi scheme.
By asking Georgetown to remove all traces of Christian symbolism from the spot where he was to deliver this speech Obama has said all he needs to about the only Foundation that ultimately matters. In addition to being our first post-American president, he is also our first post-Christian president.
See #6.
I’ll add that with the coming hyper inflation it will push everyone up in the tax brackets where government will take ever bigger shares of the economy while the rest of us get poorer and poorer.
I like that.
I've always referred to him as The Kraut (when The Kraut talks, people listen) but I like The Hammer better.
Charles is almost always "spot on". He wanders from the reservation every now and then but he's nailed another one with this piece.
Their M.O. was to manipulate the value of money and national economies to drive as many from the middle class down into the lower classes dependent upon government for their survival and to create a much smaller class of the ruling elite.
With so many in the middle class just getting by every month, when you look at the new money being printed and the massive inflation that is just around the corner, you are not a conspiracy nut to state that Obammie the Commie is trying push those who are just getting by down into the class of those receiving government assistance.
If you doubt that, “imagine” (to use the Commie-in-Chief’s new favorite term) if you are just getting by every month. This time next year a large portion of the newly printed fiat money goes into circulation. Suddenly every item of necessary food that you purchase goes up 25%, the cost of gas goes up, the value of the dollar goes down so your property taxes go up, as well.
Suddenly, you are operating at a loss every month. You want to try to sell your house and move to a cheaper house (say, isn't THAT the American dream, to downsize and own smaller and smaller houses worth less and less, further away from your work or in more dangerous or less valuable neighborhoods?) but then you realize there are tens of thousands who also want to sell their houses for the same reason. And guess what, no one is buying houses because now they are contracting the money supply by raising interest rates.
You are now living in a house you cannot afford. What do you spend your money on, food or mortgage?
You now look to the government to assist you. The next time the elections come around, the survival of your family depends on keeping those who are assisting you in office, and not those who are offering that risky reform back to a free-market model.
In Obama’s mind, the “foundation” for everything is the state. Americans have never thought of the state, meaning the government and its apparatus, as being anything more than a necessary evil that facilitates living together so that we can build our own lives on the true foundation, God, and the life of virtue that flows from that.
Obama and the people behind him see the state as all and see the individual as living solely for the state and being of value only in terms of his economic value in feeding the engine of the state. Naturally, any state needs a Great Leader that personifies it, and that’s where Obama thinks he comes in. Hence the removal of the IHS - I think we are coming close to seeing the Abomination of Desolation sitting in the Holy Place.
Sorry, too late Charlie! You lost credit and support last year with many/most conservatives. Sean Hannity and others with 'less intellectual credentials' stuck to their principles and were not afraid to call out obama for lack of substance, and did not get taken by his teleprompter's style points...like you Charlie !
This is why you don't give stuff away to people without expecting something from them. Easy come, easy go. Teach a man to fish, don't just give his meal to him...if you do, then he is your slave. I don't think Christ wanted slaves.
EXTREMELY WELL put.
Exactly.
Best line of the day.
Hannity was a McCain sycophant....which is only marginally better than being an Obama sycophant.
