Checking jobs in Texas, as well as small business law, as well as house prices/rental rates.
If I get a hint of any traction on this, I’m grabbing a UHaul and heading south on I-35 faster than you can say Remember the Alamo.

We lived in Arlington for nearly 4 years in the 70s. Both my sons were born in Texas. Loved it there. Would go back in a minute — especially if the Big S happens.
After losing his 3rd run for Congress, Tennessean Davey Crockett delivered the shortest concession speech in history: “Ya’ll can go to hell. I’m going to Texas. We all know what happened at the Alamo.
Something equally momentous happened at the Alamo on April 15th, 2009
While that earlier action was a tragedy, THAT battle set the stage for the success at San Jacinto a bit later and the Republic of Texas was on the way.
Might I suggest that the next rally take place at the San Jacinto Monument — after Texas tells Washington to “go to hell.”

I have a better idea.
Let's get all the rest of the states together and vote Massachusetts, California, and Vermont off the island. /sarc>
Cheers!

Do you really not want Texas to succeed? If you ain’t here, you really won’t count.
Elections have consequences!

Wonder how fast illegal immigration and drug trade would evaporate with Texas the nation?

Wouldn't be surprised if the ghost of Santa Anna still hangs out there - still wearing a dress!
Or maybe that's just Gov. Perry's next Dimocrat opponent...

"Texas would see a boom like never before as hard-working, law-abiding Americans move there in droves."I think we'd have to insist on strict immigration quotas:
For example, for every 10 from a hard-working, God-fearing state like Oklahoma or Louisiana, there'd be no more than 1 admitted from places like Michigan or Illinois. None whatsoever from California or New Jersey, states where the people have already made a complete hash of it.
And of course, no limits on folks from Tennessee, for obvious reasons of history and tradition...

The last time I looked, this is still Texas where I live.
I do not wish Texas to Secede, but I will not be a “good little Dhemmi”.
Texan have always had an ornery streak, but only want to be left alone to live our lives peacefully.
We were beaten once, but not subjected. We got over loosing a war, but will never be subjected to a tyrant. NEVER!
To: dusttoyou
Of course, Texas has already succeeded. The question is, should it secede? An idea. Maybe all the 'empty quarter' states - from Texas to Arizona and north to Alaska, including Canada - should come together and form a new nation of states...(The term 'empty quarter' comes from a book by Joel Garreau, The Nine Nations of North American.)
