"Beef Jerky Time!"

INDONESIAN Muslims have a beef with beef jerky.
Authorities have discovered that five companies selling the popular dried meat product have been substituting beef with pork, which Muslims are strictly forbidden from eating.
Indonesia's National Food and Drug Monitoring Agency, or BPOM, made the discovery after conducting DNA tests on jerky samples from traditional markets in Java and Sumatra.
Some of the pork products were labelled halal - meaning suitable for Muslims - but clearly were not.
"I can imagine how furious the public, particularly Muslims, would be once they find out that they have been deceived all this time,'' BPOM head Husniah Rubiana Thamrin said.
The agency believes producers used pork to increase their profits, because it is cheaper than beef.

I go to their countries I will go by the rules and show respect but do not come here and tell me that I have ton go by your rules
If true, I would be mad, too. I believe manufacturers need to be factual about the ingredients in their packaged food products. Too many religious concerns, allergies, personal tastes not to pay attention to this.

Ok, I actually side with the Muslims on this one. Their religious dietary concerns are not mine, but I can understand them. As for the jerky (or any food supplier/processor) not living up to their claimed ingredients - that’s just wrong. I like pork and beef, so this particular incident wouldn’t concern me but... I don’t want to be eating dog or horse, etc. It sets a bad precedent not to jump on this...
well, now that they’ve tried pork, maybe they’ll agree with Utah Phillips observation about Moose Turd Pie. “It’s good, though!”

Nope - I think you have to support them on this. When someone sells you a product you have a right to demand that it is what the seller told you it is.

Then let the Muzzies have their own , for lack of a better word, kosher style grocery store..I am so sick of the rest of the world having to cowtow to their everh whim and demand. They can go to hell.
Never believe a “beef” label on food that comes in form fitted plastic!
