(CNSNews.com) - Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram IHS--symbolizing the name of Jesus Christbecause it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the IHS monogram that had previously adorned the stage at Georgetowns Gaston Hall was still covered up--when the pediment where it had appeared was photographed by CNSNews.com.

Muslims don’t accept the divinity of Christ.
0 is the little commie god the American left has been waiting for. Our half-witted socialist can now have an idol in the company of Stalin, Mao and Hitler, and they aren’t going to let Jesus stand in his way or on the same stage.
Who knows, this might be a case of some staffer with a hypersensitive fear of offending some group, or groups of non-Christians, and that person was able to make a decision in this case. Or it might be, or become a more general policy.
But, being Protestant, the symbol meant nothing to me. And it's just stupid to ask a Catholic university, or any institution, to cover up symbols of their institutional beliefs and mission.
WWRWT : What Would Rick Warren Think
Rick Warren does not mean anything to me EXCEPT that he gave cover to BO and his deceptive claim about being a Christian. Great Job Rick.
On the other hand, I’d just as not see “IHS” over Obama’s head.
With a less grandiose president, I’d believe it was humility.
What do we expect from an empty suit who sold his soul to become a figurehead POTUS and who delights in the murder of little babies.
I’m not going to jump to any conclusions, but it is most unsettling that Obama seems to require the covering or removal of sacred symbols where he speaks. I doubt if he requires the removal or covering of symbols in mosques though. Can you imagine the Muslim reaction?
Great graphic, Marlowe. And all too accurate, IMO.
My favorite post of the day!!!
Apparently, there can only be one messiah in the room and "the One" allows no others.
Kolchak would have needed help from Scully and Mulder on this one.
Good thing Agent Mulder lives in the neighborhood.
"The Strange Case of the Disappearing Georgetown Cross"
It's not just a Catholic symbol. I was raised Methodist and it's part of our symbolism as well.
Obama is a voice in the wilderness of D.C. crying “Make way for the Beast”.
Whats next a Whitehouse directive that all bibles, crucifixes or any other religious paraphernalia be removed from the same room in which the TV you use to view Bamas speeches or press conferences is in?

No, they are just gonna confiscate them and burn the bibles as “hate literature” and anything else as a “weapon”.
Yep.
I suspect that the WH will spin this by saying “We didn’t want anyone to think that by having the IHS over Obama’s head that he thought he was Jesus.”
I am a Born Again Christian, and I recognize and love the symbol. Of course, I love symbolism and am a religious historian so my view may be different than many non-Catholics.
"I am Jewish, and it scares me to see Catholic institutions bend over for this clown. I have always admired the stoic backbone of the Catholic Church, even if I dont always agree with its stance. The ability to adhere to principles regardless of social pressure is a virtue one encounters less and less." 21 posted on Thursday, April 16, 2009 10:44:17 AM by NativeNewYorker
Good point. Some of us are NOT bending over. We have protested against the anti-Catholic liberalism at places like Georgetown and Notre Dame FOR YEARS! Written letters to bishops and the Vatican. Unfortunately the modernist liberals and fruitcakes who have taken over certain institutions have not been removed by the bishops or the Pope. Who should we call? For us this is like Arafat or Ahmadinejad being honored at Yeshiva or Brandeis. Almost. At least 30 or so bishops and hundreds of priests have spoken out against it. Let's hope and pray that number grows.
