This is an invitation to all Freepers to express your opinion and help me annoy one of my least favorite online liberals, Tony Isabella. (That may be a bit disingenuous since I have no FAVORITE online liberals.) In case you don't know him, Tony is a washed up comic book writer and full time looney liberal who thinks that former President Bush should be in prison for high crimes, conservatives are evil, and that President Zero walks on water. He may have also been the proto-type for the "Comic Book Guy" Simpsons character.

Tony posts a poll every week. This week, question #3 is "Do you feel it was fitting for President Barack Obama to bow to the king of Saudi Arabia?" I'm inviting all Freepers to let Tony know how you feel and really tick him off in the process.

Thanks, everyone.

“Done, but with a quibble. Why no HELL NO, option?”

Because Tony’s mind works in a very interesting way. If Bush had done it, it’s proof that he’s enslaved to the oil barons of the Middle East and is killing our soldiers so that his pet oil companies can rape us and make a huge profit.

If Barry does it, well....... that’s ok.

It’s a trick question. He wasn’t bowing - he was kissing the king’s ring.

Tony posted a message on his board that he was withdrawing the question because of all the rightwing “ballot box stuffing” that was going on.

Seems he only likes his own opinion. The polls are only open to liberals who agree with him.

Dunno about this poll, but here's Teddy Roosevelt's reply:

"Ex-President Roosevelt met King Albert of Belgium to-day, and they exchanged cordial greetings...

... The King strode forward... After a warm handshake..."
- From "Roosevelt Speaks in Belgian Capital," NY Times, Apr 29, 1910.
Here's another example of how a true American should greet and be greeted by royalty, from "Traveler Describes Meeting the Ex-Kaiser," NY Times, Oct 24, 1926:
"He stopped the car and I jumped out just in time to come face to face with teh former Emperor fo Gremany. He stood still directly facing me and, taking off his straw hat, made a ceremonious bow, which I answered by raising my hat."

Looking into past meetings betweeen Presidents and monarchs include:

* FDR: shaking hands with Greek monarch
* Eisenhower: “Gives King Baudouin ‘Warm Welcome’ to the U.S.” — no mention of a presidential bow...
* LBJ: “Johnson, in Arabic, Greets King Faisal; Lauds His Reforms” — a little arabic but no bow.
* Not a monarch, but Woodrow Wilson met the Pope at the Vatican: the Pope “came forward to meet the President holding out his hand”

The President said he wasn’t bowing.

He said he was trying to hide an erection or something like that.
