SNIPPET: "Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram IHS--symbolizing the name of Jesus Christbecause it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there."
SNIPPET: "Roman Catholics traditionally use IHS as an abbreviation for Jesus name."
SNIPPET: "Although the monogram was removed from the wooden pediment on the Gaston Hall stage where it would have been directly above and behind President Obama as he spoke, the letters IHS are posted elsewhere around the hall approximately 26 times on shields representing different parts of the United States and the world."

Makes sense, Obama is a leading candidate for the Anti-Christ job..
Peter denied Jesus too. I see Georgetown hasn’t learned much in 2,000 years...
They can not wipe it or clear it from our hearts and souls.
Like Ostriches with their heads in the sand.
The LIVING GOD will not disappear because you want him to go away he was,is and will be, “standing at the door, knocking”.
You are only hurting yourselves through your seperation.
Maybe I don’t remember my Catholic Latin too well but I thought IHS was “in hoc signo” or ‘in this sign,’ as in “do this in remembrance of me.” I thought the overlapping Xp was the Greek or Aramic symbol for the name of Christ.
And this arrogant POS in chief had the nerve a few days ago to call forth in a speech on economic matters, of all things, THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT. Talking about a house built on sand, etc. Then he has the name of our Lord COVERED UP???
Anti-christ, I tell you.
>>After the 9/11 attacks, George Bush made a point of visiting a mosque. He didnt ask for the removal of anything. That shows you the difference between a man of authenticity and a self-absorbed phony like Mr. Obama.<<
I don’t know whether its part of the standard language to ask the President has a clean stage with no visible symbols or not. Maybe this is the administration doing something clueless (at best) but maybe its just standard.
You have that right. If he isn’t the anti-Christ, then why is he running for the office...
This monogram also has been carried over into Lutheran churches.
There is something really evil going on here. Am I the only one that feels that way?
Why would Obama interject himself into Georgetown and Notre Dame when it is pretty obvious that he has no respect for anything either one of them represents?
I’m finding this hard to believe, quite frankly. They should have covered over NOTHING. Someone please tell me this is a joke.
Tell me again that he is not a muslim.
Well Obama cannot possibly be a Muslim or he would do something really strange and treasonous like, oh, perhaps something odd like making a low, obsequious bow to the King of Saudi Arabia, you know something really weird that no loyal American nor any Christian would ever do. Now if the President were to do something so outrageous as that, giving obeisance to a Foreign Monarch, then I can see how you might suspect him of being a Muslim at heart, even a traitor. Of course that would so incense the American people that Obama would be run of of the White House in a matter of days, and Congress begin impeachment proceedings.
(I’m trying to improve my sarcasm for my FR posts, is it working?)
He wants the controversy and is deliberately provoking those he perceives as his enemies.
Whew, thanks, Hiero. I was wondering how many incorrect explanations we would go thru before someone gave the right one.
IHS is a “monogram” or abbreviation for the name of our Lord Jesus; it’s the first 3 letters of His name in Greek. It’s that simple.
It normally looks like this.
Maybe he's talking about this "rock."
There - fixed it.
How much longer can Georgetown get away with styling itself a Catholic school, much less a Jesuit one? Ignatius Loyola must be turning over in his grave. I wonder if the Vatican might have something to say about this.
Just come out and say allah would be jealous (only kidding). I guess Notre Dame will have to cover up Touchdown Jesus.
