GOP back to wooing Hispanics (Romney wants immigration "reform")
Miami Herald ^ | 4-15-09 | JOAN VENNOCHI

Those old Republican hot buttons are growing cold. For proof, check out a recent interview with Mitt Romney, a former presidential candidate and ex-governor of Massachusetts.

According to TheHill.com, a congressional newspaper that publishes when Congress is in session, ''Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election, saying the issue becomes demagogued by both parties on the campaign trail.'' The article also quotes Romney as saying, ``We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters.''

Depends on what you mean by "reform", doesn't it?

''Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election...

Screw the platitudes. Give us the details. Just what does he mean by "reform"?

``We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters.''

Would that "natural affinity" for Hispanic Americans and Asian Americans be ONE IOTA different than the "natural affinity" the GOP has for me?

If not, no thanks Mitt. Leave the race hustling to the real experts in the other party.

Woo hispanics the same way you woo anyone else.

Preach principles, and keep preaching them.

The people who agree with you will respond, and they are the ones you want. The others belong in the other party. Its that simple. The worst thing you can do is pander, it will have the exact opposite effect from the one you intended.

“Reform” is usually a euphemism for “Amnesty”. Forget it. Anyone that goes for amnesty for illegals can rot.

This was posted recently under another title.

Can't pass up a chance to take another swipe at Romney.

>>>>>How Romney gets beyond the flip-flop-flips of his multiple-choice positions on immigration and other issues is a mystery only he can solve.

LOL Its still funny.

Surely there is one prominent Republican that can affably articulate the difference between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration and the difference between Border Enforcement and Nazi Gestapo tactics.

Seems like this issue makes Republicans curl up into the fetal position.

Romney: “I am so tired of trying to price lawn services! They are all too expensive. We’ve GOT to do something to allow illegal aliens to compete for these contracts. Heck, if they are qualified, I’d incorporate them into my private police impersonators group...”

The GOP chasing “Hispanics” with Immigration Reform(Amnesty) is the GOP trying to improve its health by swallowing lots of sleeping pills with a pint of whiskey. The Mexican illegals are socialists and will never vote for Republicans. Citizenship for the illegals already here and the hordes to follow will usher in the one-party state and it will not be simply incompetent like Mexico. It will be totalitarian. The Republicans pushing for Amnesty are cutting their political throats and ours. These Republicans are, with the Democrats, simply elitists who want their class propped up by ever increasing amounts of cheap labor at the expense of that crass and always hated Middle Class who don’t even know which wine to drink with which cheese.

Immigration Reform = Amnesty and perpetual one-party rule thereafter.

``We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters.''

What " affinity" would that be, or is it this one given to the GOP in 08?

This is the very type of thing that caused me to quit being a repubic... I may vote for some repubics... but until they quit embracing the kennedy school of politics... not another dime for the party as a whole. I cannot believe how deaf and how absolutely STUPID the leadership is!

Yeah. See. I just don't think that is going to resonate well with the Republican base.

I'm just sayin'.
