I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.
I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.
Please give the location and number of participants.
I'll go first:
Melbourne, FL - 1000.

Lake City, FL had 550 people at it’s afternoon TEA party.

>>I was there and counted (guestimated) 700. The Stinky Inky reported 200 people with 20 signs.
I was telling people around me at the ATL rally to take the number in the paper tomorrow and double it.

About 1,000 in Omaha, also two other that I know of in the Omaha metro area. Papillion and Millard.
Local TV showed pics of the Papillion (Sarpy County Court House) but barely mentioned the others

Hooray for The Woodlands, my old hometown!

In Tucson, AZ police reports estimated about 3,800 at the peak, leaders estimated about 7,000 altogether with people coming and going. Interestingly, the Tucson Tea Party will continue with a booth at the Pima County Fair for the next 10 days where we will have the banner and signs. Passersby will receive a
two sided handout explaining about the Tea Party and How to Write Government!

Good idea for a post:
Palm Desert, California had TWO tea party events:
1st event beginning at noon: local Channel 2 (KPSP) 5 pm news reported over 1,500 people in attendance - matched by TWELVE counter-protesters. The web site reports “There were thousands on hand for that event at noon.”
http://www.kpsplocal2.com/Global/story.asp?S=10174985&nav=menu412_2
They reported that 200 people were at the sister event in Palm Springs.
2nd event 5:30pm - Did not attend and have not heard a tally - but was expected to be even better attended than today’s.

I wouldn’t be surprised. It was definitely a good sized and enthusiastic crowd!
To: Henchster; Ron C.; All
Thanks for the rolling estimates, Henchster. Ron, I'm guessing at least a million nationwide, likely a lot more given the number of people reported in so far.
Please keep the reports coming in !!!
