Obama Aide Predicts Doomsday for Pakistan

Three months from now the first signs of state collapse in Pakistan will become evident. That is the doomsday scenario sketched by a consultant to no less than President Obama.

The consultant David Kilcullen has warned that if collapse happens --"It will dwarf anything we've seen so far. Pakistan has a military intelligence establishment that refuses to follow the civilian leadership. Pakistan has 100 nuclear weapons, an army bigger than America's and the headquarters of al-Qaeda sitting in two-thirds of the country which the Government does not control.”

And doomsday appears to be on course. President Zardari has signed the bill implementing Sharia law in Swat, acknowledging that the government's writ does not run there. Maulana Sufi Mohammad the pro-Taliban cleric is the new arbiter of Swat.

Sufi mohammad has said that the Nizam-e-adal must be implemented on the basis of what the book says. All men and women shall act under Islam and parde ke saath (under the veil).

However, Islamabad appears mired in denial. Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammed Qureshi said, “Yes there are challenges but we are not failing.”

Pakistani government seems to be using the crisis enveloping the country to leverage more aid that only feeds a military and feudal elite.

Security analyst Amir Rana said, “The Taliban are marching towards other areas, the settled areas at the same pace as they were marching from 2006. So there is no doubt that this is an emerging threat. The problem is in the vision of the government, how they want to deal with it.”

The experts say that as Islamabad gradually loses control over its territory, Washington maybe increasingly considering the unthinkable – the use of massive force to save Pakistan from itself.

I thought Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat?

Cheers!

Hold onto your hats folks, it's going to be a ruff ride, and on top of all that, Israel attacking Iran.

Sounds like Zero wants Paki to become Al-Qaeda nation. This will render his Soviet Unionization of America an absolutely 100% necessary goal.

If al-Qaeda aquires nuclear weapons out of Pakistan, we WILL have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans dead. It will be inevitable. If Pakistan falls such a scenario is very much possible.

Since the Hussein Administration refuses to acknowledge the existence of the war on terror, I’m not hopeful we will do what is necessary to prevent such a thing.

"Washington maybe increasingly considering the unthinkable – the use of massive force to save Pakistan from itself."

If you do it, you must massively change the culture and fast. Shut down the Madrasses, implement a respect for human rights and religious freedom, and reeducate the heck out of that country.

Not Nation Building, but Culture Reengineering. Islam has to go.

And frankly, I do not trust the Bower-in-Chief to execute such a war correctly.

Straightening that mess out with extreme prejudice to the musselmen unwashed of Pakistan could be one of those rare enterprises in which the United States, China, India, maybe Israel, and perhaps even some of those scaredy cat European countries could take some real interest. Would be tough for the Europeans, though. Their Paki immigrants probably outnumber their armed forces and would burn up buses and all if their new homelands tried to act like nations instead of co-ops.

I think India, right next door, will have a few things to say about who 'gets' nuclear weapons.

The first nuclear weapons out of Pakistan are going to be used on India. There is no love lost between those two.

Nope...not just Pakistan, we'll have to defeat Islam everywhere.

Get ready for the military draft?

I don't know if it's three months off, but Pakistan is looking like an easier target for Islamists than Afghanistan is, at least at the moment. We don't need those nukes to reach Iran, or North Korea...or, worse, Tel Aviv.

Would the UN allow an extremist Islamic government to take possession of Pakistan? Absolutely. Would the Indians? That's another question.

It would be interesting to see Obama try to get a global consensus to support us in that effort given that the U.S. is already in two middle east states. But on the other hand, Pakistan is a fair target in the War on Terror.

Whatever happens, if Pakistan falls into chaos, we should immediately move to secure or destroy their nuclear weapons.

I would hope that we know where all of their weapons are located, and have plans for such things.

Here’s an original thought. Let the Pak govt nuke the Taliban and their friends. Make parts of Pakistan glow so much it can be seen from the space station.

That will make India feel a lot better and ease tensions between them.

Come to think of it, there are parts of the US that deserve a herd-thinning. Hey Paki, can I work out something with you, say, Britney Spears for 3 nukes? (A kuke for a nuke).

One can dream, can’t they?
