town in Mississippi may hear soon from a religious liberty legal group.

The town under a microscope is Greenwood, Mississippi. Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel and Liberty University explains what has transpired.

"Greenwood officials have denied the use of city hall as a venue for the upcoming taxpayers' protest," he says, "[and they] relied on a 1963 ordinance that was designed back then to literally stifle civil rights marches and other protests."

Hmm...wonder why?

Afraid they’ll attract the stern attention of Washington, D.C.? Or reluctant to spend the money to deploy police, since most small towns can’t afford to have large crowds go rampaging through town?

This last is a possibility, especially if the libtards show up to try and cause trouble, get my drift?

Some things don't change in Mississippi. In 1963, white trash racist Democrats deny civil rights to a group of people...fast forward to 2009, same type of trash racist redneck backwards yahoo, spittle-out-of-the-mouth, unibrowed democrats deny the same thing.

Suggestion to Tea Partiers: March onto the City Hall, and when they arrest you, sing "We Shall Overcome".

Mississippi is almost dim free south of Jackson. They can hold it in Gulfport without a doubt.

If the weather is nice, the grounds of Beauvoir Mansion might make an interesting venue. I don’t think the house itself is fully repaired yet, but choosing that location would send one heck of a message.

There is that whole, Constitution, thing.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Yes he is... but he would not do anything to stop any protests... His money policy is liberal but he is pro Gun, pro-Life, pro Military and he actually has read the Constitution. Having said that... I have never voted for the Rat. Like I said... we are “almost” dim free... but you keep trying.

Doesn’t appear that anybody pinged the MS folks to this one yet.

Let the polidiots running Greenwood hear from you.

Ah, the Delta has changed. Years ago this area would have been holding the first tea parties. Now, as someone has pointed out here, the population statistics have changed.

Hopefully, the folks in Greenwood will still find a good place to meet if city hall won’t let them gather there. How about a march in the newly-revived downtown area?

Oh, the irony. The people running Greenwood nowadays are the folks who were denied their right to protest Jim Crow laws by those 1963 ordinances.

Greenwood is SirKit's hometown, and in 1963, it was the all white Citizens Council that, for the most part, ran the town. My how things have changed, but have stayed the same. Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss.

In your rush I bet you don't even see your own prejudice showing in that blanket generalization about whites..

Btw, today Greenwood Mississippi is largely run by the formerly oppressed NEGRO.

Bottom rung done moved up top, you happy? Magnanimous lot aren't they?

Missisippian family of 200 plus years.

It kills me to see you PC types spew your vitriol at your whipping boy RACSIM yet exhibit your own at the same time so carelessly refering to folks as white trash, hillbillies, rednecks and such. Shame.

You wanna play PC poker son then be fair about and show the same deference to all.

My bet is the folks who run Greenwood want the Messiah's dollars.....aside from Viking, catfish and duck hunting and the occasional fat bean or cotton season, it's slim pickings there compared to 50 years ago when it was the capital of the Delta.

Greenwood...black fermale lawyer Mayor.

5 Democrat black council members... 2 GOP...crackers (white trash as you so lovingly refer to them)...by the way...Councilman Lee got in trouble for calling someone an Ole N-word not too long ago....but he's a racist white trash peckerwood GOP

on the bright side, the blacks running Greenwood are apparently not as utterly corrupted as those running Jackson and they aren't yet trying to kill one another or blow up each other's cars and homes...as in Jackson...see there's a silver lining in everything.

Both Greenwood and Leflore County are nearly 70% black and the vote for Obama was almost precisely along racial lines.

The Delta is now politically owned by blacks and one can go to Greenville and see for themselves the wonder of those results.

Does anyone wonder why whites in counties they were minorities in back in the 50s were scared of giving up power. Rightly or wrongly.

What they feared has happened and bear in mind there was none of the thuggery and hostility back in the 50s like today in the black community.

I was there...I lived it.

Greenville has lost like a quarter of it’s population.
