EDITORIAL: 'We want them registered'--Democrats are going after guns

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, announced last week that she wants to register guns. Her next move will be to try to confiscate them.
The speaker picked a television show with a viewership of 4.6 million to float the Democrats' coming gun-control push. Questioned on ABC's "Good Morning America" about the prospect of new gun-control laws now that "it's a Democratic president, a Democratic House," she responded, "We don't want to take their guns away. We want them registered."
Politicians and bureaucrats routinely claim that registration helps solve crimes. If a registered gun is used in a crime and left at the crime scene, registration supposedly lets the police trace the gun back to the criminal. Though this turn of events might work on fictional TV crime shows, it virtually never occurs in real life. Criminals' guns are rarely left at crime scenes. When guns are left behind, it usually is because a crook has been seriously injured or killed and the police are poised to catch him anyway.
The few guns left at crime scenes rarely - if ever - are registered to the perpetrator. If they are registered at all, it is to someone else, whose piece was stolen. Despite what Mrs. Pelosi might think, those who use guns to commit major crimes such as robbing and killing are unlikely to respect her request to file paperwork so the government can catalog the tools of their trade.
Numerous examples disprove gun-control propaganda. Hawaii has had licensing and registration of guns for about 50 years.

Millions of law abiding American's own guns that are not registered. They have been handed down, family cherished heirlooms.
Millions of law abiding American's have purchased guns that are NOT registered....as recently as today. From a private party.....
Do you actually think that thieves, rapists, murderer's and gang members are going to abide by this "registration" drive...by the Feds?
Do you understand exactly what the 2nd..says, and means?

At a gun show, I dont think you have to give your information. You are ignorant of the circumstances then.........
You DO have to give info if you buy from a dealer...( A FFL holder..)
You DON'T have to give or exchange info with a private party...At least in the states that I am aware of......

“I have heard that gun control issues are usually very toxic from a political perspectiveIm surprised that Pelosi would try this.”
One of her over-reaches. This will be costly, especially to the blue dogs. NRA will be all over this.

“I say she starts by registering gangsta guns first.”
Right. I challenger her to go stand at the corner of Florence and Normandie in LA’s South Central and announce on a bullhorn her intent to force gun registration on the fine citizens there.

My Colt Commander ran off with a Galco holster he met in a bar. Haven’t seen him since. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

As I understand it, currently the BATF is still backlogged several years in doing the data entry for all the millions of 4473s that were turned in when Clinton purged the FFL dealers, some years back. They are stashed in a warehouse in Pittsburgh. It seems that those dealers were not as rigorous about storage, filing, and penmenship as it might have been hoped.
And rumor has it that, while the BATF now likes unannounced audits on FFLs to check record keeping, they are not allowed to keep any data collected for more than one month. I also know an old FFL holder that keeps most of his older 4473s in a 55 gallon drum full of brine, for safety.
In passing, I might also point out that the BATF likes to sneak around gun shops and shows, trying to spot perceived "violations" that they can prosecute. The last I can attest to, having met some crew cut idiot with a Second Chance vest acting all stupid and asking questions about where he could get a gun converted to full auto.
I explained that all I knew about "them there machine gun things" wus whut I seen on the Televizir, when I wusn't watching Extreme Cage Fighting....

And even our local gun club requires private parties to do the screening when purchasing at their annual gun show. I was really surprised by that! I guess they want to show how ‘responsible’ they are.

If someone tries to shoot you, you must take the following steps:
Call 911.
Tell them your name and location.
Explain the situation in detail.
Answer all irrelevant questions.
Be patient while waiting for the police to arrive on the scene.
Stay on the line.
If shooting is still going on when the police arrive, wait while they call for reinforcements.
When the swat team arrives, be patient while they wait for the situation "play itself out" before any law enforcement personnel is allowed to enter the building.
If you manage to escape, be prepared to be caught, searched and possibly arrested before you get any medical help.
If the assailant is still alive, he will be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The assailant, alive or dead, will get much more media attention than any of the victims.
If you are still alive, you may be asked to become a gun-control advocate. That is the only way you will get on TV.
See, you have all the protection you need.
Obama will repair your car, Pelosi will protect your life.
No need to worry.

I love your response. LOL. It's twisted stuff, huh, jonascord? Yours isn't the first story I've heard of what they're doing and their (sick and desperate) tactics. They sure misunderestimate Americans.
All you can do is tell yourself and realize that their behavior IS desperation, in a way, and they'll always be taking one step forward and two back...when faced with educated, freedom-loving and seeking, untreadable-on Americans.
Bumping you.

It depends on what you are looking for and how often you are willing to check. Just a few weeks ago, SGC had 30 DPMS AR-15's (AP4) for $995 each. They all went in about 36 hours. Stock levels change by the hour. The more often you check, the better chance you have at finding what you want.

Right!
Clean up the streets first, before you even try to regulate law-abiding citizens.
The problem is that liberals can't seem to distinguish between big and small problems.
I have not been able to find the exact statistics, but I strongly suspect that the criminal-on-criminal shooting murder rate is much higher than any other kind,
followed by criminal-on-lawful, then lawful-on-criminal (which is not murder if it was self defense).
Finally, I suspect that the lawful-on-lawful murder rate is exceedingly low.
So:
1. Enforce existing gun laws first, take guns away from those who already are not supposed to have them.
2. Until 1. is complete, don't even think of 2.
