Harald Schmidt prefers not to be ruled by Barack Obama. The US president is to happy for his taste, and he also doesn't want to see the "club arms" of the First Lady around the clock.
Three quarters of Germans want a German Obama, but Latenight-Talker Schmidt obviously doesn't belong to them. To the magazine "Stern" Schmidt said: "I don't want Obama. Because I don't want to see the worked out club arms of his wife. I also don't want to see someone who is permanently so happy, and I also don't want to read that I'm having here two fashion icons in front of me." Also for First Lady Michelle Obama, Schmidt doesn't leave a good hair. She is "a hyperactive Super-Mom. Either she is in a apricot sweater or in a soup kitchen, or she is in the garden ploughing vegetables."

German latenight talkshow hosts doing the job American "comedians" won't do. Have Letterman, Leno and the rest of the brood ever mocked Zero and Zeroette?
“Have Letterman, Leno and the rest of the brood ever mocked Zero and Zeroette”
Leftist comedy was never about being funny. It was about changing the paradigm of the property.
Canned laughter helps with that. No one else is laughing.
Not like Bush or ANY GOP President. Every time they count jokes it always is the Democrats who are kidded less.

"Nein mit den club arms! Macht schnell mit den Bingoflügeln, liebchen!"
Musta lost sumpin in translation. What is it Mark Twain said, “A German Joke is nothing to laugh at.” (Also: “Wagner’s music isn’t as bad as it sounds.”)
Schmidt already has a pretty solid career in place. And really, people in Germany care much less about Obama than you may believe, one way or the other. Especially now that he lost his “Not Bush Bonus” by winning through it, he’ll first have to do something substantial or distinguish his own policy.
I appreciate your perspective.
Mh, there was no joke in the original statement. When asked by the newspaper, he just expressed that he doesn’t want a German chancellor to be his own media event.
Having spentmany years in West Germany, my impression is that you would not have minded if the missles flew, just so they passed over your heads.
I don’t think I understand what you mean with that. That we’d have been happy if a global thermonuclear war would have hit everyone but us?
Only metaphorically. I remember Chernoble shook everyone up. The German government was lying like heck about radiation levels. Maybe I should hgave said they wished both great powers would just go away, but there was always a willingess to blame the United States more than the Soviets. Now we know that Willie and others were working for Moscow.
Well, Willy was somewhat before my time, but I’m fairly certain that one of his close aides (Guillaume) was a Commie spy, not he himself. And when young people rebel, they tend to rebel against something that’s close enough to rebel against in person, because otherwise it’s not so photogenic.
