An under-the-radar provision in a House climate bill would give plaintiffs who claim to be victims of global warming a way to sue the federal government or businesses, according to a report Friday in The Washington Times.

The Times reported that Democratic Reps. Henry Waxman of California and Edward Markey of Massachusetts added it into a bill they authored.

Oh goody, since I am under the sea rise minimum, I guess I get a bundle for compensation. No one told us we would be under water from AGW when we bought our house 15 years ago.

Whoopee, for once I get to declare “I am a victim”.

The reason this provision exists is to prevent future administrations and Congresses from responding to public demand and weakening its provisions...or not cracking down as hard as they want.

The reason a judge was able to order EPA to regulate Carbon Dioxide as a pollutant was because of the same provision in the Clean Air Act. The normal path for regulating Carbon Dioxide would have simply been to have Congress amend the act...but this provision gives them a way around that incontinence.

All that I can say is that this bill better not get very far.

What idiots....even if you believe the propaganda of global warming, everyone who consumes energy is responsible, not the government or some business.

The coldest winter in decades has had no chilling effect on this insanity. The mere concept of suing someone because the weather changes is beyond belief. How does a judge sit there with a straight face and pretend to consider this BS?

The easiest way to make a company capitulate to environment wacko demands is give them teeth via the federal government to threaten sue the ever living hell our them

I doubt waxman cares about the the trail lawyer lobby, he just wants to put a little fear into the global warmer deniers

"These people are insane...America is becoming insane."

I call it a National Nervous Breakdown. We all know liberalism is a mental disorder but this irrational behavior concerning global warming has spilled over into even some conservatives (like Newt Gingrich and others).

The people pushing this crap don't really believe it. They're trying to bring down/bankrupt our 'evil' capitalist system.

“How does a judge sit there with a straight face and pretend to consider this BS?”

That’s a good question. I don’t see how you could possibly break out the effects of “global warming” (which isn’t actually happening right now anyway) from natural variation and normal systems. One bit of news the various alarmists should know is that sea levels are rising much more slowly than their alarmism would indicate. Another dirty little secret is that sea levels have risen faster than during the 20th century through most of the paleorecord.

I’m actually not sure what this legislation accomplishes beyond providing a way for special interest groups to get money from the government. I hope the very real trend of global cooling puts the whammy on all this nonsense pretty soon here.

Perfect.

First we have the fabricated 'global warming' crisis and now we're gonna have POS lawyers filing thousands of lawsuits to seek a remedy for a wrong that doesn't exist.

I reckon some damn lawyer will end up running for president one day based on a career of winning lawsuits against Junk Science
