Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. There was never a problem to begin with.

I'm loving what I'm seeing with ordinary Americans finally fighting back. It's great to see. I saw
some protestors disrupt Larry Summers' speech-- I'm not in favor of Code Pink tactics but it's nice to see the Left getting some of their own medicine.

It is good to see that America's "Rebel Patriots" have got the appropriate permissions from the King.
It baffles me to see so many "Tea Party" organizers struggling with parks departments, city councils, envrionemnetal quality boards, insurance companies, etc.
Where did Sam Adams get his permits?

Indeed, they should all show up and hand any "Where's your permit?" asking police officer or politician a print-out of the 1st Amendment.
Just like the Left's argument for amnesty, "Are they going to round up and arrest everybody?"
The Sons of Liberty are rolling in their graves at our cowardice.

If you had had it at Independence Hall, you would never have had the problem.

I’m heading up a TEA Party.
And I’m getting permits from the same area where you’re paying your income taxes, hunting licenses, auto emissions test fees, school/emergency/property taxes, sales taxes, and all the rest of all levels of the government that has shackled its citizens.
If you can come up with a better way, let’s hear it.

Well said. It’s easy to criticize from the sidelines. Organizing one of these things isn’t exactly a tea party (snicker.)

I have produced a lot of promotional and advertising material for tea parties in the last few weeks. I’m not criticizing tea parties. I am all for assembly, protest and civil disobedience. My point is simply that if our purpose is to protest an oppressive and over-reaching government, and especially if we are going to invoke the image of the Boston Tea Party we ought not to be concerned with getting permission from the government. I can’t be the only one who sees the sad irony of this?
