I think we had this once- remember all those polluting smokestacks ? The ones that shot particulates high into the atmosphere and were thought to cause acid rain ? They were all regulated out of existance.
Just my humble opinion that people should not allow a bunch of idiot politicians to tamper with the atmosphere or climate on a global scale.

Global warming is a hoax. Without greenhouse gases the earth would be too cold for humans. A major greenhouse gas is WATER VAPOR. Carbon dioxide is present in the atmosphere in only trace amounts — currently about 380 parts per million. The recent trend is global cooling, not warming. The whole cap & trade plan is idiocy.
Obama is a liar. He says he wants to save the economy, but cap & trade, plus union check cards, plus $1 trillion new taxes on “the rich” are all designed to slow economic growth and kill at least a million jobs.
By letting the Bush tax cuts expire, taxes on capital gains and dividends will skyrocket. This will discourage savings and investment. Obama’s plan to limit mortgage interest deductions will help keep home prices depressed.
Obama thinks federal spending will cure the economy, but it will do just the opposite. It will result in inflation due to devaluation of the dollar, lower GDP, higher tax rates, but lower total tax revenue (due to reduced GDP). No economy can be sustained based on government spending. It takes free enterprise not burdened by huge tax rates and government regulations.
Cap and trade will cause businesses to leave the U.S., as will union check cards and higher personal income taxes. Unemployment will balloon to 15% if Obama’s agenda is enacted.
Throw in Obama’s socialized medicine, and the deficits will be $1 trillion a year for the next ten years, and that estimate does not even take into consideration the unfunded liabilities of Socialist Security.
Perhaps Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing, or perhaps he knows exactly what he’s doing: Wrecking America. Just as in the Great Depression, when FDR’s policies extended the crisis for ten years, Obama’s policies will make our economy even worse than it is today.

I think they're desperate. More and more scientists and opinion-makers are determining this is a scam, and that cannot be allowed to continue because the current Democrat Party is amost entirely based upon the concept of the noble and honest Al Gore being cheated by the eeeevil George Bush. If Al is revealed to have been a scam artist -- or even just an idiot -- their whole house of cards comes a'tumblin' down.

No one really knows the actual impact of human activities. The earth’s climate is poorly understood, even by the “experts”. Nor does anyone understand exactly how carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and other gases interact with abundant worldwide precipitation, or what the net effect is on the earth’s climate. We are still unable to make near term weather predictions, such as where a hurricane will land in the next 48 hours.
It is known that cyclical changes in the activity of the sun have affected temperatures on earth for millions of years. The book to read is “Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years”, by Fred Singer and Dennis Avery. Another good source of objective facts is “Climate Confusion - How Global Warming Hysteria Leads to Bad Science, Pandering Politicians and Misguided Policies That Hurt the Poor,” by Roy W. Spencer.
The obsession with man-made global warming is like a pagan religion, with people brain-washed into believing that their cars, fireplaces, and electric power plants are the primary causes of climate change. Natural events on earth and changes in the sun are vastly more powerful than human activities.
Obama’s plans for cap & trade and other idiotic schemes will not change the climate, but they will kill our economy.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is not pollution and Global Warming has nothing to do with pollution. The average person has been misled and is confused about what the current Global Warming debate is about, greenhouse gases. None of which has anything to do with air pollution. People are confusing Smog, Carbon Monoxide (CO) and the pollutants in car exhaust with the life supporting, essential trace gas in our atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Pollution is already regulated under the Clean Air Act and regulating Carbon Dioxide (CO2) will do absolutely nothing to make the air you breath “cleaner”. Regulating Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions through either ‘Carbon Taxes’ or ‘Cap and Trade’ policies will cause energy prices (electricity, gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, heating oil ect...) to skyrocket.
They’ve got to do something to keep the sheeple from seeing that the earth is getting colder instead of warmer. Geoengineering to the rescue. Then they save face in not having to explain why all their settled science is a bunch of science-fiction.
Instead, how about they play chicken?
