I predict that within the next day or two, Obama will announce that he was in the process of organizing a super-duper rescue operation.
The press will announce definitively that the rescue mission surely would have been successful, with no loss of life among the crew.

It seems the International law of the sea would make ships and crews sitting ducks.. Except for AMERICAN ships and crews! Aww yeah!

Reuters,
Maersk cannot confirm status of hijacked ship
"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Maersk Line President John Reinhart was unable to confirm on Wednesday that the hijacked Maersk Alabama container ship off the Somali coast was back under control of the U.S. crew.
"A lot of speculation is going on. I believe it is premature to comment on that," he told journalists on a conference call.
He said at about 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) he received a cell phone call from the crew saying they were all safe. "
Supposedly they were going to hold a press conference at noon in Norfolk (I think)

Many criminals count on the victims’ freezing in panic at the very sight of a gun or knife .Weapons are not magic tokens : the intended victim can often fight back if he seizes the moment!

I still have a hard time believing we’re out of there. Good times, and a lot of flight hours - great place to fly.

this is only a guess..but they tried to take a ship manned by American Merchantmen..they learned the hard way not to do that..I betcha those guys that “jumped” overboard never knew they were doing so and never knew they hit the water..something to do with a lack of breathin and seein and stuff..why should they be taken prisoner and sent to some prison someplace where they (the pirates) can then gain the sympathy of MSNBC, CNN etc. and make absolute fortunes doing it..while those same networks condemn the brute force against these “fisherman” who were obviously lost and simply boarded to ask for directions..

We may have a “do-nothing” weakling in the WH, but no weaklings on board that cargo ship - hopefully this sends those B@st@rds a loud message - leave our ships alone.

I don’t think they will be in trouble. I’m pretty sure piracy on the high seas is still punishable by summary execution. Regardless, no American jury would convict them.

The best way to end piracy is kill the pirates and their sponsors.
