If 2010 doesn’t address the problem, things might get ugly.

Here is a compromise offer:

The citizenry of the US will accept controls on nuclear weapons here and abroad, to be enforced by the government, if the government reduces its stockpile of bureaucrats by 10%.

Although it is a great sacrifice for citizens to compromise away a part of its fundamental human rights, it seems practical provided the government shows continuing responsibility with its end of the bargain. Regular review of the government will be ongoing.

There, that is my compromise.

The Second Amendment IS a civil rights issue.

Clearly she has ideas and actions CONTRARY to her oath of office.

"Right now, we have the debate in Congress over the District of Columbia wanting a vote on the floor of the House, something we all want. That's a civil rights issue," she said, pledging to find "middle ground" on the issue. "And, yet, they want to put a gun…bill, attach that to that.

Evidently she doesn't see the keeping and bearing of arms as a civil right. Myself, I think it's the most important of all of them. An armed man is in a position to demand and seize all his other rights; an unarmed man has only those privileges his masters grant him.

We have fought for years, even decades, to gain back a tiny portion of our right to self-defense. Any attempt to scrape away that thin veneer of freedom we have attained will be rejected unambiguously. The mere mention of wanting to take away our rights again is evil in great degree.

Here is a compromise. We, the citizens, will allow you to manage nuclear weaponry here and abroad IF and only if you require evidence of competency to vote in federal elections. We the citizens will determine the standards for attaining competency and those standards include knowledge of the system of government and being a taxpayer.

Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month.

Um, but madam speaker, cars killed more than twice the number of people than that in a single day!

Your plan makes sense. And if the anti-gunners were truthfully interested in safety, you have covered their worries, and they should have no objections.

But they aren’t - they want all guns gone. So If they were to go for this conpromise, I predict backdoor problems. How much for the ID card and process? And then more $ to renew it. Then a felony for gun possession without the ID card (that you can no longer afford).

"And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means."

I agree there, but with different meaning.

No assault weapons ban. None. No compromise, no nothing.

I like it. I had a similar rant on taxation the other day. 2 or 3 more of these and we could have a party platform.

For all the good it will do I just emailed the N.R.A. and told the no compromise is acceptable. I am tired of giving up my rights.

“Right now, we have the debate in Congress over the District of Columbia wanting a vote on the floor of the House, something we all want. That’s a civil rights issue,” she said,”

Pelosi and her gang are using the Constitution as toilet paper as DC voting rights are explicitly denied.

McNutjob, Snowe and Collins to the rescue!!! Will help Pelosi in her time of tribulations to exact a pound of flesh from American gun-owners with another useless piece of legislation which will have ZERO impact on the homicidal maniacs in our society.

These people are playing with fire. Depression, plus punative taxes plus attempt to remove the second amedment = insurrection.

These won't be standup battles either, it will be the well placed round at 600 meters into a target that determines the outcome.
