Pelosi pledges compromise on assault weapons ban @ 10:29 am by Michael O'Brien

The ball is in Congress's court to craft a compromise in reinstating regulations on assault weapons, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) acknowledged Tuesday.

During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Congress will work to find some middle ground between the previous ban, which expired in 2004, and the precedent laid by the Supreme Court in a ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners' rights last term.

"We have to find some level of compromise," Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month. "And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means."

"Yes, it is," the Speaker said when asked if the ball is in Congress's court now that Democrats control the White House. "And we are just going to have to work together to come to some resolution."

Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail registration and prohibitions on transporting some firearms across state lines.

The Speaker also expressed displeasure at the attachment of a gun rights provision to legislation that would grant Washington, D.C. a voting member of Congress.

"Right now, we have the debate in Congress over the District of Columbia wanting a vote on the floor of the House, something we all want. That's a civil rights issue," she said, pledging to find "middle ground" on the issue. "And, yet, they want to put a gun…bill, attach that to that. I don't — I don't think that that should be the price to pay to have a vote on the floor of the House."

“Assault” weapons are fully automatic long arms, and they are already regulated.
As usual, Pelosi is full of shite. No “compromise” needed, unless the critters and Kenyan want to begin discussions with the People regarding a long train of abuses committed by this government, and possible remedies.

He can piss ‘em all off and he’ll still go through his full term. A Clinton-style hearing won’t happen to him.

A friend of mine, a Vietnam Vet, Shot himself five years ago today.

Sadly, another friend, who was only 21, may have overdosed last night on drugs designed to calm him from certain dementia's.

Two wonderful people lost until we meet again by different means.

Sadly, one may have not been able to live with demons of his PTSD and the drugs he was on, while the other may have been to suppress the demons with the drugs he was on.

A friend remarked yesterday that because of our friend killing himself, with a gun, it has resulted in her opposition to guns. Of course I made the usual sympathetic reasoned arguments about why he left us and the method of choice was irrelevant.

Then we received the sad news regarding our young friend two hours later.

Just sad and I have to drive my friend with their spouse to the airport to go the East Coast. They are Jewish so this death of their nephew during Passover is particularly sad as they body must be buried immediately.

Anyway, they means of ending of life is irrelevant. If the motivation is strong enough, it will happen.

Gotta go in about 10 minutes.

If you see this, Please Pray for my friends and their family.

Thank you

Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail ... prohibitions on transporting some firearms across state lines.

Is this a new attack mode that the filthy Communists are going to try? Does that mean that you would only be able to purchase certain types of firearms if the manufacturer was located in your own state? That you could no longer purchase a firearm listed on gunbroker from a dealer or individual in another state? That if you moved from one state to another, or if you had residences in more than one state, you would be prohibited from taking your firearms with you? That you could not bring your firearms to a competition in another state? That you could not get your firearms repaired outside of your state?

These criminal idiots think that they can sell such an idea as a "common-sense" regulation to cut down on criminals purchasing guns in "free states" and transporting them for sale in "slave states" such as New York and New Jersey and California - but anybody with a modicum of intelligence should be able to understand that criminals who are already committing felonies will not be deterred by yet another law, and instead it will be the law-abiding citizens who will be restricted. Unfortunately, relying on a majority of Congress to be intelligent or possess common sense is a losing proposition...

Oh man, that picture is trying to demonize heavy metal music.

There are Christian metal bands around. One notable one is Stryper.

Pelosi pledges compromise on assault weapons ban.

All right them, Ms. Pelosi, here is our compromise for you:

You respect our unabridged Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and we'll recognize your right to govern.

The middle ground between freedom and slavery is still slavery.

They can’t afford to: We’re STILL ARMED. Can’t have that, you know!

Back in the early 80s, I attended a speech by the late Arkady Shevchenko, then the highest ranking Soviet official to defect to the West. He had been their top guy at the UN.

He spoke, interestingly, at KENNESAW COLLEGE — and we all know what Kennesaw is famous for! I’m proud to have played a a small role in helping Mayor Darvin Purdy get that legislation through the Kennesaw City Council.

His talk dealt with the clear intent of the leadership of the old Soviet Union to somehow take America. He mentioned their ICBMs and the nuclear blackmail threat they posed.

Then he broke from his prepared remarks and offered the audience this wisdom:

“The leaders of my country are as AFRAID OF YOUR 200 MILLION PRIVATE FIREARMS as they are of your ICBMs. NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS.”

Frankly — and, while he had to be careful as he was under FBI protection at the time, Shevchenko alluded to this in his remarks — I’m as concerned about some domestic tyrant (say, a Hillary, Nancy Pelosi, Barack HUSSEIN Obama or Chuck Schumer) as I am about some foreign enemy.

And it is THAT threat about which the Founding Fathers were concerned that prompted them to leave us the Second Amendment.

The BIG question is: WILL WE KEEP IT?

That is true. Class 3 weapons affect a pretty small segment.

They can say and do whatever they want, but once they start coming for the guns, the war begins, in earnest.

True, they will leave everyone no other choice. Any attempt to disarm the public will result in a war and they know it, so they better be prepared. An unarmed public cannot rise up against tyranny. Americans will not stand for it.

Not everyone voted. We can’t say that 52% support him. I think more do not support him than do.

Yikes! Her “compromise” means just about every firearm most of we FR readers have, own and shoot ends up banned and will eventually be confiscated.

My semi-auto bird hunting shotgun, my semi-auto Rem 750, my semi-auto Springfield XD, my .22 revolver that lacks a firing pin that is engraved to put ID on the fired shell, my boxes of ammo that aren’t coded as to to whom they got sold to at retail, my antique flintlock that is way over .40 cal., plus I haven’t finished my mandatory firearms training in anticipation to my license application to own or possess that still-legal BB gun the government may allow me to own.

To Pelosi, compromising means getting her way. The only side that compromises is the GOP.
